TrackID and other mobile services

Initially service TrackID was designed for phones series Walkman,produced by Sony Ericsson. Now TrackID is the standard service for most Sony Ericsson phones. It allows you to search for a song on a fragment of 10-12 seconds in length.

It's quite easy to use the TrackID service: you need to launch an application that will record a small snippet of the song with the built-in microphone. An entry in the AMR format is sent to the web service, where it is compared with the samples from the database. If the search is successful, the information on the track will be displayed on the phone's screen.

The disadvantage of this service is that it is available only to the owners of Sony Ericsson phones. Its only full analogue can be considered ShazamID system. This service is used, in particular, in Motorola and Samsung phones equipped with a music recognition system.

Tunatic

A computer alternative to mobile services - free software Tunatic to identify music tracks online. The program was developed by Sylvain Demongeot for Windows and Mac OS operating systems.

Searching for a song by music is done approximately like thissame as in TrackID. To start, the program must be downloaded, installed and run. Then a small extract of the song is recorded through any audio channel (microphone, line input, etc.). The record is sent to the database, where it is compared with the already recognized fragments of compositions.

If successful, the program will return you the song name and artist name. You will also receive a link by clicking on which, you will go to Web page with more information about the composition. The creators of the service claim that the program recognizes everything, except for classical music.

Midomi

Online service <! - noindex -> Midomi <! - noindex -> will help you out if you do not have the opportunity to record a snippet of a song that you would like to identify. You can just sing or whistle a ten-second fragment of the song you are interested in into the microphoneby clicking on the button "Click and Sing or Hum" on the start page of the site, and the service will compare it with the tracks already stored in the database and provide you with information about the song.

In addition to the name and artist name, in the resultssearch you will see a list of users searching for this track earlier, as well as several songs that are similar to the one you are looking for. Also you can listen to a sample of the original recording, purchase a full studio version of the track directly on the site, listen and evaluate the records of other users. Thus, the service Midomi does not just allow you to find a song by the melody, it is a kind of social network.

Other services

Service <! - noindex -> SongTapper <! - noindex -> is created for those who do not have a song record, nor the possibility / desire to sing a melody. All you need is tap the rhythm of a song on the keyboard. The system will try to identify the melody and give out a list of suitable songs. Of course, the accuracy of the search is not as high as that of previous services, but on bezrybe and cancer fish.

If you have a track record on your computer, but there are no tags in it that can identify the artist and the title, you can use automatic tag completion in mp3 files in Winamp player (available in version 5.541 and higher). Please note that for its operation you will need an internet connection.

Just open the file in the Winamp player,select the file and right-click on it. Click Submit, and then click Auto-complete tags. Watch the Status column - when the file receives the Done attribute, click Apply. When the tags are filled, you will be able to See in the file properties all the necessary information.
