Care for topiari in containers

Like all decorative compositions on your site, topiari need care. It does not matter where your masterpieces are located - on the terrace, the winter garden, the gallery, the rockeries - they all need to provide the necessary conditions for them to enjoy you with their beauty longer.
It is best to put the topiary in slightlyshaded place. Of course, they may well be in the sun, but then you have to water them much more often, especially in the summer. And yet it is better to protect them from direct sunlight, as well as from strong gusts of wind.
If your topiari are in the room, try to provide them with good lighting. Do not leave the topiari, which were indoors, in the street, under the scorching rays of the sun.
The newly created topiary should be immediately poured. Watering is a very important factor in maintaining the compositions. Do not be afraid to wet your creations -most of them die more from lack of water than from its excess. The cool and humid atmosphere affects the topiary positively, although it is not completely sufficient for their survival. Water the topiari once or twice a week from the garden watering can, or simply simply immerse it in a container of water. Watering should be moderate, otherwise the plants can turn yellow and fall foliage. It is better to use softened water, it is more useful.
For good growth and brightness of the topiary color, they need to be fed. Start using fertilizers from the beginningspring, and make mineral substances in small quantities. You can fertilize with any of the suitable fertilizers once a month. Follow the instructions indicated on the fertilizer.
Every year or two years you need to transplant your topiary into another tank.
To do this, get your plant out of the pot,try to do it carefully so as not to damage the roots. The new container should be at least one or two sizes larger. Adding to it the missing amount of land, immediately pour your composition. Try to control the moisture of the soil, until the plant does not take root in the new space.
Topiary cutting is usually performed during shoot growth. Remember that to create topiary formsplants older than five years with a developed root system are used. For any haircut, there is a golden rule - not to remove at a time more than a third of the size of the plant, otherwise it may begin to ache and dry. To give the plant a shape, you will need a pruner, trellis scissors, a garden saw and a delimbant. It is also important to regularly level the crown.
By the way, in many respects care for topiary depends on the plant with which it is performed.
For example, boxwood is evergreen - veryAn undemanding shrub that grows well both in the sun and in the penumbra. Haircuts are needed boxwood twice a year. With this plant you need to be more careful - it is poisonous. Two hairstyles per year also requires yew - a frost-resistant shrub with dense needles and round red berries. Biryuchin is a fast growing shrub that needs regular pruning - a couple of times in the warm season. But it is recommended to cut the holly not more often than once a year. The plant perfectly tolerates penumbra and even a complete shadow, there are very beautiful forms with colorful leaves, spectacular berries of red, black or yellow color. True, the work with the holly is complicated by the fact that he is very prickly. Appetizing red berries can boast of a cotoneaster. The forms of this plant - almost recumbent, arched, straight-growing, highly branching varieties - can be used for interesting, original zadumok. Many cotoneasters are frost-resistant, unpretentious, perfectly tolerate haircuts and grow quickly, so it can be successfully used to create topiari.
