How to decorate a candle with your own hands
Making candles today is one of the mostpopular directions of handmade, but to make beautiful - for a holiday or just for the soul - you can already have a ready "ordinary" candle, and do not necessarily remelt it. Here are a few ways.
Decoupage
You will need a thick candle of any color, butoptimal - white or not too dark, as usual in decoupage, fire, scissors, a metal spoon and a napkin with a picture (if you make a candle decoration for the New Year, you can take a napkin with a Christmas motif, for example - spruce branches with Christmas toys on them) .
Carefully cut out the image from the napkin,separate the top layer and attach it to that part of the candle on which, in your opinion, there should be a drawing. Usually it is either a bottom or top-to-center gluing rarely, but there are no rules: just be guided by your desire. Heat the spoon over a fire and swipe it over the napkin.
Then again and again; when the spoon will cool,heat it again and again. The wax will soften, and the image will fuse into it. Remove the napkin is no longer required - the image is completely left on the surface of the candle. If you want, you can glue several glitters on top (for example, on the glare of toys), or paint on individual elements.
Bonding of objects
A very simple way of decorating: just glue the candle, pressing into a slightly wax softened over the fire, any objects: shells, small pebbles, pieces of glass, coffee beans. But remember that materials should not be very sensitive to temperature. However, even in this case the candles are usually pasted only from below, creating the appearance of a kind of built-in candlestick. A light version of this type of decoration: gluing of figured spangles or falling down a heated candle in small sparkles-powder.
Painting a candle
Just draw on wax that picture or pattern,whatever you want to see. For example, on a round white candle, very small golden stars, located at an equal distance from each other, will be very festive. In general, an even pattern looks on candles very well - especially if you have a composition of several candles. Other New Year and Christmas options - a tartan (red, brown and gold), blue or silver snowflakes, snowmen, green spruce with golden stars.
Candlesticks
Today, the most popular candlestick-caps,which not only "hold" the candle (thick, stable candles for decor do not need to be, they can stand under their own weight, unlike usual ones) but also cover it entirely, protecting the flame from air fluctuations, and surrounding objects from accidental ignition.
One of the most cozy and winter-lookingways, which, nevertheless, is easy to make at home - a candle in a glass jar decorated with white lace on top. Put a candle in a small jar, and put this jar on top of the lace. On the neck you can impose a narrow silk ribbon or a piece of a natural bundle tied with a beautiful knot and fixed with a button (only watch that the ends hang out the cans, not inside).
When the candle burns, the lace on the lightedfrom inside the bank will create the impression of a frost pattern on the glass. If you take a very wide jar or even an aquarium, pour down the sand or small round stones for the decor corresponding to the occasion of the flowers (for example, golden, green, red stones, if you want warm colors, and white, blue and silver, if you prefer a cold scale.)
