Francis Scott Fitzgerald - "The Great Gatsby"
The Great Getsby - one of the most famous and, without a doubt, the mostthe great works of the American writer of the first half of the 20th century, Francis Scott Fitzgerald. The book was written in Paris, where the writer stayed with his wife while traveling through Europe. And this, of course, left its imprint on the work.
Fitzgerald was a representative of the post-wargeneration, which gave the world a whole galaxy of bright and surprisingly talented writers, such as Remark, Hemengway, T. Wolfe, H. Stein, and others, and even more extensive generation of writers of the beginning of the century, who directed the direction of the literature of the following century - W. Faulkner, S. Lewis, S. Anderson and others.
They showed the tragedy of the "lost generation"who stepped from the school bench into the trenches before he could part with romantic dreams and was brutally shot and strangled in the fields of the First World War. Back home, they often could not adapt to a peaceful life, depreciated morality and burned life in the scenery of the so-called "Jazz Century."
The narrative in the novel is conducted on behalf of NikaCarraway, a young man from a wealthy venerable family who had come to New York. However, the main character of the work is not Nick, but Jay Getsby, a fellow soldier of Nick, whom he again met in New York and whose story recalls in his story.
Jay Gatsby was one of those strong personalities whoconfidently go to the goal and achieve their goal. He believed that wealth would bring him recognition, happiness, the sweetness of revenge and lost love, and he became a truly rich man. Gatsby arranged incredible parties for which people gathered who did not even know him in person.
There were legends and dark rumors about him. The source of his money was called the most fantastic. And one day the trick of Gatsby worked - the party that came from the one who betrayed him once came to the party. But can money return love? And will people who come to the call of wealth be real friends?
During the life of the writer, the novel did not receive fame, and only after decades the readers appreciated the artistic skill of the author. Now the novel "The Great Getsby" by Francis Scott Fitzgerald is deservedly called one of the best novels of the 20th century. There are several adaptations of the work, including 2013, where the role of Jay Getsby was played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
