What is Instagram?

This free photo sharing application was developed for devices that are running operating system iOS version 3.1.2 and higher (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch). The photos taken in the Instagram application are easy to learn: they are square, not rectangular, resembling the photos made by the Polaroid camera or Kodak Instamatic. Instagram also offers a set of filters for photo processing, thanks to which you can get unusual photos.

Processed in Instagram Photos can be downloaded directly from your iPhone or iPad to popular social networks - Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr, Foursquare, Posterous, VKontakte. For easier search by photos and users to photos, you can add hashtags.

Initially, the project, developed by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, was to be called Burbn and be more multifunctional. But later they decided to focus on mobile photos. The first version of Instagram appeared in the App Store (application store of Apple) on October 6, 2010.

In August, the number of downloads using the serviceInstagram photos reached 150 million. Now the number of registered users of the application is more than 27 million people. All of them are owners of gadgets from Apple. But how to be the one who uses smartphones and tablets of other companies working on Android? Is the Instagram application available for Android?

The developers of the application have indeed announced the release of Instagram for Android in early 2012, but so far Android version of the application is in the closed beta stage. On the official site of the application you can subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to know about the output of the application.

Rumors about the release of Instagram for Android appeared in December 2011. One of the founders of Instagram, Kevin Systrom, officially confirmed them in March 2012 at the South by Southwest (SXSW Interactive) conference in Austin, Texas.

Android Instagram Team Instagramincludes two developers of the Android operating system. Since the application testing takes place in closed mode, details about its functionality are not disclosed. But Kevin Systrom said that Android version in something will even surpass the version for iOS.

Also, Systrom noted that in the future in the application distributed free of charge plan to add advertising. Thus, cooperation with the worldfamous companies and brands: Burberry (the British manufacturer of clothing, perfumes and luxury accessories), Audi (the famous automotive company) and Kate Spade (manufacturer of fashion bags).

The exact timeframe for the release of the application is not yet known, so that the owners of devices on the platformAndroid, who wants to try Instagram, can only wait patiently for the release of the final version. Now on Google Play (formerly Android Market) you can find applications with similar functionality, but still they do not provide an opportunity to evaluate the functionality of the original Instagram application on the Android platform.
