How to make a rose from the atlas with your own hands - photo master-class

You can make a flower, of course, from any fabric. But for such a flower as a rose, a smooth satin is best - a durable and dense, but shiny and delicate material. Ordinary silk would be too thin, it does not hold the flower's shape well (unless you make very small roses, with a phalanx of a finger the size).

Atlas, although this is a kind of fabric with silkthread, soft, very plastic and more dense, its front side always shines. The petals of the rose also fit tightly to each other, but the buds look taut.

Thin fabrics - chiffon, gas, organza, -look very beautiful, and the flowers of them are airy, but, like silk, they are suitable for folding roses only if you need a small flower. They are better used for lighter and furry colors.

How to make a rose with your own hands

You will need:

Strips of satin (the more the flower should be,the wider and longer the strip of tissue should be. For example, blue flowers in this master class used stripes of satin with a length of 60 cm and a width of 9 cm. One strip is required for one rose; how many strips - there will be so many colors.

There are several types of atlas, among themnow the most famous patterned and satin-stretch, but for a rose you will need a smooth satin - it does not stretch like a stretch, and there are no additional sealing threads, as in a patterned atlas.

The color you choose yourself, but the flowers are naturaltones are not always attractive; do not be afraid to experiment, although choosing is better, of course, soft, pastel colors. Of natural shades for satin flowers, tea is usually best looked).

Rose from satin: a step-by-step master class

1. Roll a long strip of satin with a tube so that the front side is out.

2. Fold the tube in half in the center in exactly the same way as in the photo - forming a right angle and "turning over" one of the halves of the fabric at the same time.

3. Now take the fabric by the ends and bend the lower one forward, and the upper one back, the angle will be cut by half, and in the middle of the tube there will be something like a soft, loose three-layer accordion.

4. Continue to fold the same way until the entire strip of satin is finished.

5. Stretch the fabric by holding it at the end that has not been fixed.

6. Now release one of the "tails" at the loose end. Fabric itself will curl, crushing folds and creating a shape that looks like a rose.

7. Glue the short end, the one that has become closer to the center, to the back of the ribbon of the resulting product - as in the photo.

8. Trim the remaining long end or just wrap it around your rose, making it firmer and lush. Fasten the same way - glue, add glue and in the middle, if you think that it does not hold tight. The rose from the satin is ready.

9. Make as many flowers as you want. For example, in our master class there are three blue roses and one pink, and they are all connected together on a ribbon so that they can be worn as an ornament for the hair.

You can connect flowers as follows:

- glue them on a common substrate of a small size (here it is fleece); you can add some small light decoration (for example, a feather, suitable for color);

- Cut off all the excess fleece sticking out;

- Sew or glue the whole structure on a white tape.
