Volumetric weaving of paperVolumetric wickerwork - another interesting way to get out of paperamazing decorative gizmos, such as original trays, bottle stands, baskets, jugs, pots and much more. Along with quiling and origami, weaving from paper is a very popular kind of needlework.

Weaving from paper is easy to master, and the necessary materials for sure will be found in everyone's house. For weaving of paper, old newspapers and magazines are fine. You will also need scissors, ruler, glue or scotch tape.

Paper (sheets of newspapers, magazines) must be cut into blanks of the right size, and each piece should be rolled into a sufficiently dense tube. The required density is determined fromthe required flexibility of the received tube: the denser the tube of paper, the more difficult it is to bend in the right direction. At the end of the coagulation of the tubes, each of them is coated with glue (PVA or silicate) or bound with adhesive tape. The number of paper tubes depends on the size of the product being manufactured.

From the received tubes in the manner of the vines and all kinds of products are weaving. When one tube ends, it is carefully, with the help of glue, connected to the next one.
In order to keep the required shape of the productsIt is possible to carry out weaving of paper around any subject-pattern. For example, when making a bottle stand, one of the bottles can be used as a basis for weaving.

The bottom of the future woven paper product can also be woven from paper tubes, and can be made of cardboard. To do this, cut out the cardboard blankof the required size and, having deviated from the edge of the workpiece by several centimeters, paste on its tubes of paper. Pipes should be distributed evenly. You can close the place of connection with the tubes with an additional blank from the cardboard.

After finishing the weaving of paper products, it can be covered with acrylic paint, lacquered. So the woven product will become more durable and durable.

Weaving from paper: tray

To make a tray of paper you need:

  • 2-3 circles of thick cardboard according to the diameter of the future tray

  • paper tubes

  • scissors

  • glue

To start with Cut out 2-3 round blanks from cardboard - they will serve as the bottom of the tray. One of the circles is decorated. For example, you can decorate a circle in the technique of decoupage. This circle is the highest.

On the lower circle-base paper tubes are evenly glued. Correctly distribute the tubules will help protractor. For example, you can divide a circle into 45 equal sectors. The angle of each sector will be 8 degrees.

Then the second circle is glued to the tubules. The first horizontal row should be braided by tubes strictly along the cardboard - to hide the ends. Starting from the second row, weave the tray, lifting the tubules of the base vertically.

Weaving paper can be made solid, but you can make it laced - it all depends on theyour imagination. The height of the weave depends on the required height of the sides of the tray. The ends of the tubules of the base are cut off and bent to form loops into which the tubules of the last horizontal row should be inserted.

At the end of the weaving, the tray is covered with paint and varnish. If the tray should be used for food products (eg bread), then you should choose the paint and varnish allowed to cover food contact items.
