Types of stamping on the skin

Cold embossing on the skin performed without heating cliche, in the homeconditions, it can be used for skin thickness of 0.8-1.2 mm. The most popular is cold embossing, which is made by pressing the skin between the matrix and the countermatrix, i.e., the mating part. This embossing is called congresive.
A hot method is made for embossing on the skin with a thickness of 1.5 to 3 mm. As a cliche for hot stamping in the homeconditions can serve as ready metal stamps sold in stores, or various improvised means. Typically, blinth (blind), hotgrim hot stamping on the skin, as well as hot stamping with foil.
Blind hot stamping on the skin It is a type of embossing, in whichno paint or foil is used, only a stamp and a leather blank are needed. After the blind embossing on the skin, there is a "depressed" imprint on the form of a stamp (cliche). The depth and quality of the impression depend on the force applied in the embossing.
Stamping Embossing, in contrast to blitz, will allowimpression "relief to the outside," ie, a convex impression. As with cold stamping, a matrix with a countermatrix is used in this case. There are varieties of embossed stamping with the use of paint.
Embossing on the skin with foil - Perhaps, the most popular stamping. The method of embossing with foil is very similar to blind embossing, however, in the process of work, a foil is applied to the surface of the skin. The depth of the imprint with a foil stamping is less than with a blunt one.
To perform stamping, as in the photo, Manual, semi-automatic and automatic presses are used. At home, hammers and self-made presses can also be used to create embossed impressions. Some folk masters of embossing on the skin use even an ordinary iron as a press.
Cliche for embossing on the skin at home are also made ofavailable materials. For example, you can cut out a cliché of hard rubber or even cut a cliché from a dense cardboard (the required cardboard pattern is pasted onto the cardboard base). True, such cliches will not be very durable.
