The history of the Navy
In 1696, the Boyar Duma signed a decree on thecreation of the Navy. Tsar Peter I understood the need to build military courts to defend the maritime borders of the state and conquer new territories. In 1714, the first victory at sea was won, in honor of which it was decided to hold a parade of ships. In the Soviet Union, sailors were honored during the "Red Fleet" week, and in 1939, Navy Admiral N. G. Kuznetsov proposed to celebrate the Navy's birthday on July 24. In modern Russia, President Putin's decree of May 31, 2006 established a memorable day for the Navy on the last Sunday of July.
Today the Caspian Flotilla as well as the Black Sea, Baltic, Northern and Pacific fleets celebrate their professional holiday.
When the Day of the Navy 2015 is celebrated
In 2015, the Navy Day falls on 26 July. The traditional parades of ships, concerts and fireworks.
St. Petersburg is the cradle of the Russian fleet. Here the holiday will last as long as 2 days. In the water area of the Neva will enter warships that will be open to visitors.
