Marine style in the interior

In general, the maritime style in the interior is in fact not a style of interior design in its pure form. Marine motifs can be used in interiors of different styles, for example, country and provence. In some styles, the marine theme looks especially organic.
Marine style in the interior is suitable for almost any room. Of course, in the first place comes the idea to design in this style bathroom: blue tile (and maybe even a photo plate with an underwater landscape depicted on it), seashells on the shelves for cosmetics ... You can lie in the bathroom with salt and imagine that you are basking in sea water.
Interior children's room can be decorated in a "pirate style." Children like everything unusual, and such an interior will be an excellent alternative to boring stereotyped solutions. And if the child "pirate" theme is not to his liking, decorate the room in the style of some cartoon related to the nautical theme, for example, "In search of Nemo" or old-good "Adventures of Captain Vrungel."
Another marine style in the interior is well suited for kitchens (it turns out such a kitchen in a fishing lodge on the beach or a ship galley), bedrooms (can you imagine what dreams will be in that bedroom?) or living room (why not turn it into a wardroom?).
What are the components of the maritime style in the interior? As in any other style of interior design, here you need to pay attention to color, materials, furniture and accessories. Only their harmonious combination will help create a real marine interior. Let's look at each component separately.

Colour. In this interior, almost everything is appropriateshades of blue and blue, from aquamarine to ultramarine (you see, even in the names of flowers there is the word "marin" - "sea"). You can combine them with white and its shades (cream, ivory), and for fans of less contrast combinations - beige, sand. Still it is possible to use cold shades of the green, reminding sea water at the big depth.
Materials. Materials are mainly usedNatural, reminding us of the interior of the house on the coast or the most real ship. Whitewashed wooden floor (or laminate, most like a tree), light wallpaper or walls lined with wooden panels (by the way, the same panels can be sewn and the ceiling). For the kitchen or bathroom, ceramic tiles - blue, blue or pearly - will do.
Furniture. The best approach is rough, simple furniturefrom shabby light wood. You can "dilute" heavy furniture with wicker chairs from willow or rattan. Well, if you can get an "entourage" piece of furniture, for example, a pirate chest. And fans of extreme can hang in the bedroom a hammock - if not as a sleeping place, then as an extravagant element of the interior under the ceiling.
You can sew on the furniture covers of rough fabric, reminiscent of canvas. In general, from fabrics it is best to use sisal, jute, unpainted canvas, linen and cotton. Fabric colors - white, gray, blue, blue. For furniture covers and pillow cases on the pillow, you can use a striped fabric, reminiscent of a vest. On the table, lay a linen tablecloth, hang curtains on the window. For decorative elements, you can use a fishing net, hemp rope, etc.
Accessories. You can not do without thematic accessories. These can be reproductions of seascapes, models of ships (for example, ships in bottles), "sea" clocks and panels, wall barometers, hourglasses, compasses, crafts made of shells, decorative bottles and other paraphernalia that remind us of the sea. And you can simply lay out on the shelves of shells and stones, personally brought you from a trip to the sea.
Marine style in the interior is best suitedfor rooms with windows facing south or east: the blue color scheme is cold, it creates a feeling of freshness and coolness. This interior calms, helps to distract from everyday problems and worries, relax not only the body, but also the soul.
