Venetian plaster with own hands
Fashionable in our time, the decoration of the walls, called"Venetian plaster" came to us even from Ancient Rome. Mixtures for Venetian plaster consist of dusts of various types of stone, for example marble, a binder, for example acrylic, and dyes. The technology of applying Venetian plaster is special. This process is laborious and time-consuming, but because this decoration is expensive. But you can finish the walls using the "Venetian plaster" technology and on your own. The main thing is attention and patience!

For finishing "Venetian plaster" you will need such tools and materials:

  • mixture for Venetian plaster

  • color

  • trowel

  • damp rag

  • mitten

  • wax

The technology of applying Venetian plaster

Before you begin the finish with Venetian plaster, you need prepare the surface of the walls. The walls should be perfectly even, clean and dry. Under the Venetian plaster often apply a special primer designed for better adhesion of plaster to the surface.

Prepare the plaster mortar, for which mix the plaster and color. Do not mix too much solution immediately to prevent premature hardening and drying.

Apply a small amount to the trowelsolution. Leave the tool to the surface to be treated at an angle of approximately 30 ° and, strongly pressing it, draw on the surface. Immediately after the first smear, run the trowel second swab perpendicular to the first.

The layer of plaster must be very thin, approximately equal in thickness of 0.1 mm, and even. Wipe the trowel with a damp cloth more often, so that it does not form dried particles of mortar, which can scratch the surface of the plaster. Leave the layer to dry for 6-12 hours. If after drying the plaster on the surface of the wall there are projected irregularities, then they can be carefully removed with a small spatula.

After the first layer has dried, you can proceedapplying the second. To get a "marble" effect, make the second layer lighter or darker than the previous one. After drying, gently remove any irregularities. Repeat the same for the next layer. It is required to apply from three to ten very thin layers of plaster. Every time let the layer dry out.

After you have applied the last layer, allow it to dry for 15 minutes and proceed to the next stage of the work - polishing. To perform polishing, take the trowel and, pressing it almost close to the wall, draw them on the surface of the coating. Move the trowel in different directions.

To the stage waxing You can go no earlier than a week afterfinishing polishing. During this time, the plaster will dry properly. Wax can be applied with a trowel. Do wax strokes in different directions. Apply the wax should be a thin layer, otherwise in places where the wax is applied especially densely, after drying, dark spots will appear.

After drying the wax coating polish the surface cover with suede mitten. Circular movements, tightly pressing the mitten to the coating, treat the entire surface of the wall.

Well! A little effort and you are ready to use Venetian plaster. Congratulations!

Council. If you are not confident in your abilities, before beginning the finishing of the wall, try the technology of applying Venetian plaster on a sheet of cardboard.
