In the store try to purchase seeds of hybridspetunias, adapted to different climatic conditions: they are better sucked in our latitudes. There are packages of 5 or 10 seeds covered with a special film that softens from water (this refers to large-flowered shrubs). Seeds of ampelian petunia are usually sold in the form of balls. Do not worry if you sold last year's seeds: petunia is very tenacious, the main thing is to treat it properly.

Cooking Soil

If you chose small seeds, then prepareearth mixture. It is rather loose and absorbs moisture well. The mixture can be made by yourself or bought in the store. To sprout well rose, pay attention to the acidity of the soil. It is easy to verify with litmus paper. The ideal range for petunias is from 5.8 to 6 Ph. Neutralize the acidity by adding alkali.

An equally important factor is the level of salt content, it should not be too high.

Before sowing, do not be too lazy to mix again the mixture and add baking powder (perlite, vermiculite). They perfectly help to keep moisture.

We proceed to plant the seedlings. The landing time depends on the variety: first of all ampel and multiflorous varieties are sown. They need time to fully develop. The best month is February. Small-flowered petunia can be sown in March.

You will need small pots, about 10 cm. In the bottom a hole is made or a layer of drainage is poured. This is necessary to remove excess moisture. On top of the first layer of substrate is poured, a little is rammed and covered with the following. Do not forget to spill the soil well. Sowing begins the next day. The main secret is to evenly distribute the small seeds on the surface. In order for sprouts to be strong, it is necessary to maintain the optimum temperature - from 23 to 25 °. For this, you can wrap the plate with a film and put it in the light. The soil must be wet. After you notice the first shoots, the film can be removed. Now water the seedlings less often.
