How to make a gazebo at the dacha with your own hands: choose materials
Today, there are a lot ofmaterials for making gazebos in the country. You can choose the most suitable material yourself: wood, metal or cellular polycarbonate. Before the construction of the arbor and the choice of material for it, it is best to determine in advance the parameters that play a primary role for you: price, durability and aesthetic appeal. Below, we'll look at each of the materials, but for now, let's move on to the work that is recommended to be done when building any gazebo with our own hands.
Soil preparation and foundation laying
Pavilions, although not capitalbuildings are not erected for one year. In this regard, before construction it is necessary to determine how to organically "connect" the gazebo with other buildings and where it is located. As a rule, arbors are made of the same material from which the house is built. However, to create a single architectural ensemble, you can also use the same color and stylistic solutions, simply by equipping the gazebo with decorative elements used in the construction of the house.
The arbor is best located nearreservoir, if it exists, as this will ensure the influx of fresh air during the heat. Also, you should think in advance about the level of illumination and air circulation in the arbor. In those cases where a gazebo is planned to be made with decorative grilles instead of walls, it is better to arrange it in a quiet place, otherwise it will be impossible to stay there in windy weather.
When building gazebos, it is usedcolumnar, tiled or strip foundation. Easier and faster to make a columnar foundation. To do this, you will need to first clear the site and dig around the perimeter of the pit about half a meter deep. Depending on the area of the future gazebo, it is necessary to excavate one or more pits inside the perimeter (this will prevent the floor from bending in the future). At the bottom of each pit it is necessary to fall asleep and tamp first 10 centimeters of wet sand, and then as much rubble. The remaining 30 centimeters are filled with a mixture of sand, gravel and cement (in a ratio of 3: 3: 1) and stacked on top of 2 layers of roofing material - as a waterproofing. At the final stage, we make the posts using brickwork with a height of 3-4 bricks and again close each of them with a ruberoid to prevent moisture ingress.
How to make a wooden gazebo with your own hands
The application of the columnar foundation will reliably protecttree from rotting and will ensure the gazebo stability even on hot soils. For the base of the gazebo and the whole frame, thick bars, connected by self-tapping screws, are best suited. Particular attention should be paid to the quality of the bar, which is installed along the perimeter (the thicker it is, the better), since it will take up the basic weight of the structure. The walls of the arbor can be made of boards, decorative lattices or rods. For the roof, absolutely any material, from traditional wood and tiles to polycarbonate and even straw, is suitable.
The main drawback of the tree, in comparison with othermaterials, is its fragility. To reduce the negative impact of this factor, it is recommended to treat all wooden elements of the structure with special means that will reduce the susceptibility of the tree to moisture and protect it from pests.
How to make a gazebo at the dacha of metal
The main advantage of wrought iron arbors for givingis the simplicity of their installation and the attractiveness of openwork forging from an aesthetic point of view. Since all the elements of the arbor are usually made in the workshop, you will only have to prepare a place and assemble it on site as a designer. In some cases, the pavilions are fully manufactured and welded directly to the workshop. The main disadvantages of this type of arbor are the high cost of manufacture and the susceptibility to corrosion. In order to increase the service life of the gazebo made of metal, it is recommended to clean it regularly and cover it with special anti-corrosion agents.
Pavilions made of cellular polycarbonate
Cellular polycarbonate as a material formanufacture of arbors has a number of advantages compared to wood and metal - easy operation and installation, long service life, the ability to impart any form and low price. In this regard, it is often used as a roofing and walling material, and in some cases used as a basic one. The main drawback is a peculiar appearance, because of what it can not always be harmoniously combined with other buildings. The frame for a gazebo made of cellular polycarbonate can be made from a fairly thin metal profile due to the low weight of the entire structure. For the same reason, there is no need to lay the foundations.
