How to decay strawberries - photos and videos of thinning strawberry plantations
Decimation is one of the most important procedures forcare for virtually any gardening plants. In the case of the heat-loving, capricious and fragile strawberries, thinning is especially necessary: due to thinning, the strawberry grows faster, gets more nutrients, sun and oxygen - and this, in turn, contributes to yield. But it is very important to thin the strawberries correctly - otherwise you can damage plants and generally ruin the crop.
The basic rule of thinning landings is thatthe first procedure for thinning is carried out immediately, as soon as the plant has the first two leaves. The optimal distance from one strawberry bush to another during thinning is at least three to six centimeters.
By one single procedure, of course, the matter is not limited. The second time thinning should be done when the strawberry bushes will give the first berries, and here it is already possible to stop.
The distance between the strawberry bushes in many waysdepends on the planting area and plant variety. So, for example, on one square meter, beds can accommodate up to eight to ten strawberry bushes, and in some cases even more.
Another factor to be addressedattention when thinning strawberries is a kind of seating arrangement. If you have planted several rows (beds) of strawberries, then provide for the distance between them - otherwise when harvesting berries you will have to step directly on the soil of the beds. This distance, respectively, should not be less than the size of the foot. But the distance between the strawberry bushes on the same bed (in one row) is not strictly regulated - several centimeters is enough, most importantly, that the strawberry bushes do not touch each other.
Thinning strawberries in spring and summer
Since most varieties of strawberries are plantedin the soil in May (and in some cases - already in April, if the month is warm and the weather does not foretell frosts), the first thinning of strawberries is also made in the spring (according to the above rule). But what if you missed the first thinning, and remembered only when the strawberry has grown and gives berries?
In this situation, from the rapid thinning of strawberriesit is better to refuse altogether - leave this procedure until the autumn, when the harvest of berries will be removed. But at the same time remember that in the case when strawberry bushes grow too thick, there is a risk of damage to plants by an unpleasant disease - gray rot. In order not to face this trouble, in time to cloud the soil around the strawberry bushes, no matter how thickly they grow.
