Country Tips - How to Set Up a Bicycle SwitchStep 1. Establish a chain on the smallest asterisks in front and behind. We find on the switch adjusting screws H and L.

Step 2 - loosen the rear derailleur cable. Turn the tension adjustment cable adjustment knob clockwise until it stops. The same will be done with the drum on the mantle.>

Then, step 3, remove the cable. We loosen the cable fixing screw (internal hexagon) and remove the cable from the fastening (it is not necessary to remove it from the switch). But it is not superfluous to check the condition of the cable. If the cable is worn or torn, it is better to replace it. And if it is dirty, then it must be cleaned and lubricated. Unshielded cable can cause fuzzy gear changes.

Step 4 - install large transmissions. To do this, you need to stand behind the bicycle, and turning the adjusting screw H, align the tensioner rollers and the smallest sprocket. Rollers and asterisk must be on the same straight line. If the tensioner rollers are shifted to the right, then the chain hardly makes the transition to large sprockets. It is necessary to turn screw H clockwise. If you now turn the pedals (lifting the rear wheel), then on the smallest sprocket chain should work silently and without trying to jump to the side.

Step 5 - install the cable. We refuel the cable under the fixing screw, pull the cable stronger with one hand, and with the other hand tighten the cable fixing screw. If there is a groove for the cable in the clamp, then it must be ensured that the cable has got into this groove, and does not lie beside it.

Do not overdo it with the tightening of the screw - in this place it is very easy to break the thread.

Step 6 - install small transmissions. To do this, first turn the adjusting screw L almost completely (it should not restrict the movement of the switch). Rotating the pedals, we translate the mantle into the first gear, that is, we put the chain on the largest rear and the smallest front sprockets. While the switch is not adjusted, it is better to do it carefully - the chain can slip to the left of the largest sprocket and get into the spokes.

Step 7 - regulate small transfers. To do this, you must stand behind the bicycle, and turning the adjusting screw L, align the tensioner rollers and the largest sprocket. Rollers and asterisk must be on the same straight line. Normally, the adjusting screw must be simply tightened until it starts to rotate. Step 8 - adjust the chain tensioner, if it is onyour switch. To do this, put the chain on the smallest front sprocket and the largest rear, and turn the pedals back. If the upper roller tensioner touches the teeth of the sprocket, then you need to twist the tensioner adjustment screw and make sure that this roller is moved away from the sprocket by about 5 mm. Then we translate the chain into the smallest star and check the chain tension there.

Step 9. Now we need to check the correctness and claritychange gear. For this it is best to ride a little - all the inaccuracies of adjustment will appear better when loaded. If the chain does not go from the outer sprockets badly to the adjacent ones (or does not return well to the outer ones), you can turn the drum to adjust the cable tension a little counter-clockwise.

Further adjustment can be completed already during the skiing. lt; RTI ID =
