Liquid wallpaper
A variety of modern materials for decorationwalls are simply amazing. In place of simple paper wallpaper came non-woven, textile and even liquid wallpaper. The latter is a relatively new type of finishing materials, but it has already won fans around the world.
Liquid wallpaper is a mixture of fiberscotton and cellulose, dyes and glue. They can be produced both as a dry mixture and in a liquid form. Use this trim for any premises in an apartment or office, on walls and on the ceiling, in a monochrome version and in the form of a panel or an original drawing. The color scheme of this kind of decoration is very diverse, you can choose the right shade for any interior. But this is not all that this type of finish can boast - it still has many advantages:
- thanks to its microporous structure, this finishing material has a normal level of sound and heat insulation;
- the natural components that make up these components provide such a property as antistatic properties, that is, they do not attract dust;
- this finishing material is fire and environmentally safe, resistant to burnout and does not absorb odor;
- the technique of their application provides a seamless, pleasant to the touch surface, and also allows easy correction of inaccuracies and mechanical defects;
- They are very practical, since they do not require specialcare (it is enough just to periodically vacuum them, and small local contamination can be cleaned with an ordinary eraser) and can be stored in the refrigerator.
But there is one important "but": Despite the fact that such an unusual finish is also quite resistant to moisture, it can not tolerate direct contact with water - it simply soaks. Therefore, if you decide to apply such an original finish in the bathroom or in the kitchen, be sure to fix the result (after drying the wallpaper) with several layers of varnish.
Liquid wallpaper: how to apply
The process of applying liquid wallpaper on the work surface can be divided into 3 stages:
- Stage I - preparation of the working surface: first it needs to be cleaned, leveled, all the defects are repaired, treated with an antiseptic if necessary and dried. Then primed (with white, special primer or water-based paint);
- Stage II - preparation of the material: if you have already purchased a ready-made wallpaper in liquid form - then this step can be skipped, if in the dry - dilute them with water until uniform according to the instructions on the package;
- ІІІ stage - application of the material: this process can be carried out manually or with the aid of a nebulizer. In the first case, use a spatula, a hard brush or a texture roller. If your method - application with a spatula or with the help of an atomizer, then it is possible to give the relief of the smooth surface obtained after 5-6 hours already with the help of a structural roller, wetting it with ordinary water. And we dry our beauty for at least 48 hours, carefully monitoring the temperature (it should be no less than + 10C) and the "untouchability" of the surfaces.

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling
The ceiling decoration scheme does not have such a materialfundamental differences and includes the same stages: surface preparation, material preparation and direct application of liquid wallpaper. But there are several nuances regarding the first stage, during which you need to remove the old finish. But if it's a water-based or acrylic paint, then it's enough just to clean the defects. Do not forget about the cracks - if they are, they must be surely putty. If your ceiling has significant unevenness, then it must be pulled out or aligned with gypsum board.

Liquid wallpaper: expense
Calculate the required amount of finishingmaterial is very simple. This can be done using the data placed on the wallpaper package, or using automatic calculators on specialized sites. The main thing is that in both cases you need to do it without fail - to calculate the surface area that you are going to cover with liquid wallpaper. To do this, just remember the school program and multiply the height by the width (if it's a wall, do not forget to subtract the opening) or the length to the width (if it's a ceiling). Taking into account possible adjustments and other working moments, we recommend that 1-2 packages be counted from the top.
Drawings with liquid wallpaper
Thanks to its structure and technologicalthe possibility of changing colors, such material for decoration can be an excellent means for creativity. At the same time, it is not difficult to create a specific drawing or panel from this finishing material, if you follow this scheme:
- on the prepared surface, we draw the contour of the future drawing with an exceptionally simple pencil;
- in separate plastic containers, we dilute and color the necessary material for creation and leave it for 12 hours;
- to create a decorative masterpiece to youneed a plastic trowel and a rubber spatula. The first wallpaper is applied to the areas of the pattern with a small (1-2 mm) spacing behind the contour, then the spatula is moved slightly inwards. The formed projections along the edge of the pattern are smoothed with the same trowel. In this case, the overlapping areas of the material choose the unsound. Fill in the sections with wallpaper after 3 hours in the same way;
- The final result can be decorated with beads, bugles, paillettes. Make contours more legible with a marker, but only after the picture has dried completely.
