Engine




Engine with a double turbocharger and a MIVEC system. In the movement Lancer Evolution leads a 4-cylinder 16-valve 2-liter engine with two upper camshafts and variable valve timing system MIVEC, equipped with a turbocharger with intercooler intercooler.



The engine develops a maximum power of 295 hp., and the maximum torque is 366 N ∙ m. Many engine parts, including the cylinder block, the cylinder head and the timing chain cover, are made of lightweight aluminum instead of cast iron, which reduces weight and increases the efficiency of the unit.

Suspended exhaust collector. Using the rear exhaust manifoldlocation allows the use of shorter, straight and light outlet nozzles. This not only increases the overall efficiency of the unit (the exhaust pipe no longer passes under the engine), but also allows the engine to be lowered to increase the stability of the car by reducing the center of gravity.



Moreover, this design allows to increase the diameter of the outlet and the capacity of the silencer, which, in combination with a double outlet nozzle, reduces the power losses at the outlet

Design double clutch. New system, installed only on LancerEvolution, uses a unique dual-clutch transmission scheme. Instead of a conventional torque converter, the TC-SST gearbox uses two separate clutches, one for even gears, and the second for odd gears.
