Susan Collins "Hunger Games"

"Hunger Games" is the first novel of the same nametrilogy of American writer Susan Collins. The other two are called "And the flame will flash" and "Mocking Mike". In print, they appeared with a difference in the year from 2008 to 2010 and immediately became bestsellers. And two years later, in 2012, a long-awaited film, based on the first novel, appeared and became no less popular than the book. What caused a surge in interest in the work among those who had not read the book, but was interested in the film and longed for continuation.

According to Susan Collins herself, the novel wasis inspired by the ancient Greek myth of the Minotaur, in which the Athenians pledged to periodically send fourteen young men (equally boys and girls) to certain death. However, one day the hero of Theseus went with them and saved his homeland from heavy duty, killing the Minotaur. This story was transformed by Susan with the addition of the plot of the modern crazy popularity of the reality show and using the knowledge that she learned from her military father. It turned out an exciting fantasy novel with elements of an action movie.

Action in the novel "Hunger Games" by Susan Collinsoccurs in a world that has developed after an unknown global catastrophe. There is no trace of democracy left. The power in the state is entirely in the hands of the rich, who cruelly exploit the poor population of the region's districts. One of them somehow rebelled, but the rebellion was brutally suppressed, the district was disbanded and since then the whole world has the good fortune to contemplate the tournament "Hunger Games, for which each district is obliged to nominate two young people by lot.

In the tournament, as usual, the strongest wins, who receives and honors, and all laurels, and life, because all the other tributes-participants in the course of the competition will die. After all, the war is not for life, but for death. This is a reminder to all the districts that they will be tried to change their lives. This is a constant cruel lesson. And the winner is just a happy exception, given by the powers that be, like a bone from his desk.

However, the new tournament leader, Katniss Everdin, who fell on the "Hunger Games" voluntarily, replacing her younger sister, although this was the last draw in which she was supposed to participate, does not want to play the written script and do so as expected. And in this lies the danger for the status quo. After all, if the sixteen-year-old girl was able to win, then the district and the whole country will be all the more able. There is also a romantic story in the novel in which the girlfriend Gail and her partner in arms Pete are present.

In the film adaptation of the role, Katniss playedJennifer Lawrence, Gale - Liam Hemsworth, and Pete - Josh Hutcherson. Also in the films were involved many famous actors - Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelsson, Stanley Tucci, Lenny Kravitz and others.
