How to use Twitter

To enter the site, go to the main page - twitter.com. Above the big yellow registration button there is a button for entering the site with the inscription Sign In (in the screenshot it is marked with a red arrow).

Click on the button and the form will open to enter the site:

1. Username or email - enter the username or e-mail address that you used when registering.


2. Password - Enter your password.


3. Sign in - button to enter the site.


4. Remember me - tick here if you want toThe browser has memorized you, and the next time you log in to your Twitter account automatically. This option should not be used on public computers, to which you have access not only you.

So, you went to the site. Let's try to figure out the Twitter interface and set up your account. The main twitter page for a logged-in user looks like this:

1. Home - home page, on which, in fact, you are now.


2. Profile - Go to your profile page. It displays your name and surname (or the data that you entered in place of them), user name (user), your avatar (user picture), brief information about you and your entries (tweets).


3. Messages - A folder with your incoming and outgoing messages (Twitter allows users to exchange private messages).


4. Your avatar and user. Clicking on the arrow next to the user menu will bring up a drop-down menu.


5. Settings - account settings.


6. Help - Help (technical support, like the whole twitter, in Russian is not yet available).


7. Who to follow - shows users whose tweets may be interesting for you. While you have not set up an account and started reading anyone, you will not be recommended to anyone.


8. Leave preview - transition to the old Twitter design.


9. Sign out - sign out of your account.


10. The following - The list of users you are reading. Their records appear on the main page of your Twitter.


11. Followers - People who read you (followers). Accordingly, your records appear on their main page.

How do I set up my Twitter account? Press the button Settings (5) and get the following (for convenience we split the screenshot into two parts):

By default, your account settings will open (blue tab Account at the top of the page). You can change:

1. Name - First name and last name.


2. Username - Username.


3. Email address - e-mail address (we remind you that it must be valid).


4. Checkbox: "Allow other users to find me bye-mail address. "Your address will not be displayed on the site, but your friends will be able to enter it into the search form and find you on Twitter.If you want to disable this option and do not allow to find you by e-mail - do not put a tick in the checkbox.


5. Language - language, the default is English. Russian language on Twitter is not yet available.


6. Time Zone - time zone (choose the one from the drop-down list).


7. Tweet Location - if you tick, twitter will automatically add a geographic location to your tweets.


8. Tweet Media - if you tick, twitter will show you videos and pictures of all users, not just those you are following (read).


9. Tweet Privacy - if you tick, your Twitter can only be read by the users to whom you give permission.


10. Save - save the settings.

Tab Password It is necessary if you want to change your password. Enter your current password, enter the new one twice and click Change to change. If you do not want to change the password, skip this step of the configuration. Tab Mobile we skip (mobile services of Twitter are not yet available to us) and go to the tab Notices - Notifications. We see three checkboxes:

1. New Follower Emails: notifications to the mail about new readers (followers).


2. Direct Text Emails: notifications to the mail about new private messages.


3. Email Newsletter: newsletter Twitter.

In order for notifications to arrive, check the boxes so they do not come - remove them.

Tab Profile - profile settings:

1. Picture - download from your computer a picture that will be displayed in the profile and next to your tweets. Supported formats are JPG, GIF, PNG, image size - not more than 700 KB.


2. Name - change the name and surname entered at registration.


3. Location - Enter the city in which you are located.


4. Web - Enter the address of your personal website or blog.


5. Bio - brief information about yourself (no more than 160 symbols).


6. Save - save the changes.

Tab Design allows you to customize the design of your Twitter. To begin with, we recommend selecting one of the suggested standard layouts and clicking the button Save Changes (save the changes) shown in the screenshot with the red arrow.

After setting up an account, you can start writing on Twitter. Go to the page Home. Write your message in a special box (no more than 140 characters) and click on the button Tweet - the message will appear in your profile and in the tapes of your readers (followers).

To start reading a person (zafolovit it), click on his user to go to his profile. Under the profile information there will be a button Follow:

Click it, then you will appear in the users' followers (readers) and you will be able to read its tweets in your stream.
