Essential oil of orange
Essential oil of orange (as well as oils of other citrus fruits, for example, lemonand grapefruit) are widely used in aromatherapy, perfumery, cosmetology, cooking and folk medicine. Let's get acquainted with the useful properties of orange oil.



Under orange oil is usually understood orange sweet oil, which is obtained from the rind and pulp of ripefruits of orange. In addition, there is also orange bitter oil, it is extracted from bitter orange - orange (therefore its second name is orange oil). From leaves, young shoots and unripe orange fruits, petigreen orange oil is extracted, from the colors of bitter orange - neroli oil.



In this article we will talk specifically about the orangesweet butter. It is extracted from the peel and whole fruits of the sweet orange by cold pressing. The main producers of orange oil are Italy, Spain, Israel, Brazil. Mexico, the USA and Guinea, and orange oils of Guinean and Spanish production are considered the best. Orange essential oil is one of the most inexpensive and available essential oils.



The essential oil of an orange is orange or yellow liquid, smelling (of course) the fruit of an orange. The taste of the butter is harsh. When the temperature decreases, it becomes turbid.



Like other citrus oils, essential oil of orange is widely used for skin care for face and body. It is suitable for all skin types, but betterjust use orange oil to care for oily and problem skin: it normalizes the fat content of the skin, cleans the pores, makes the skin smoother and more elastic.



But for dry skin this oil is useful: it has moisturizing properties and helps fight wrinkles. Also, sweet orange oil can be used to lighten the skin, fight pigmented spots and traces left after acne. When caring for the body, orange oil is used for fight against cellulite.



Like absolutely all essential oils, Orange sweet oil has antiseptic, bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, it is used to treat skin diseases (eczema, psoriasis and other dermatitis), as well as to fight herpes on the lips and care for the oral cavity in gum disease.



Orange oil increases immunity, helps to fight against colds, flu andinfections of the upper respiratory tract. It facilitates various types of pain (from the head to menstrual), normalizes the work of the gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular system, has choleretic and diuretic properties.



The essential oil of an orange has a favorable effect on the emotional sphere, improving mood and helping to fight fatigue. It helps to cope with anxiety and stress, get rid of insomnia, soothes and tones.



How to use the essential oil of orange? Here are approximate dosages of orange oil for different procedures:



  • aroma lamp: 3-5 drops for 5 square meters of the room area;

  • aroma: 4 drops, always use an emulsifier (milk, cream, etc.);

  • massage: 10 drops per 10 g of transport oil;

  • Enrichment of cosmetic products: 5 drops per 10 g of base;

  • oral care: 1 drop on a glass of warm water (for daily rinsing of the mouth);

  • Inhalation: 2-3 drops per glass of water (use emulsifier), duration of inhalation - 5-7 minutes;

  • when ingested: 1 drop of a glass of tea or juice twice a day.


Please note that orange oil has its contraindications. It is not recommended for those who sufferallergies to citrus fruits. Also it is necessary to use it with caution if you have sensitive skin. Like other citrus oils, orange oil is phototoxic, so do not apply it to the skin before going out on a sunny day: you risk getting a sunburn.
