How to sew a belt with a hidden pocket

In this strap it is very convenient to store papermoney. And you can hide inside and other important trivia - for example, some records, or even things, just flat, so that the hidden pocket remains invisible.

What you need if you want to sew such a strap:

  • strap or shoulder strap from a 2.5 cm wide bag - cotton, nylon or polyester.

    To find the length of the belt, measure the waist and add about 30-35 cm (on the pocket and seams);

  • zipper in the color of the webbing, the length of 20 to 51 cm. The optimal length is 41 cm. You can cut the excess;

  • sewing thread;

  • Sewing machine with a needle for denim and two legs - conventional and for zippers;

  • 2 metal rings-fastenings ("half-hearted", in the form of a semicircle or a letter D), a width of 2.5 cm;

  • adhesive for fabric (optional);

  • pins, needles, measuring tape.

What you need to know about materials and measurements:

The strap or strap you took should befrom a very dense fabric - otherwise after a few years, when the fabric begins to wear out, the pocket and the zipper will become visible. Any bulges - because even money or paper will not look flat if put in large quantities - will become less noticeable if the belt is made of dark colored fabric. It is best to choose a fabric dark blue or black. If the cotton belt, you need to wash it before you start or just leave it in a bowl with hot water and then dry it. Otherwise, the fabric may begin to wrinkle or sit down later under the influence of water (at first glance it would be imperceptible if the belt is just a belt, but a large number of stitches, a zipper and a pocket will affect its appearance in the most unsightly manner).

How to sew a strap:

Step 1. Zipper

Close the zipper and put it on, frontside up, on the back of the strap-strap at a distance of 11 cm from the end (on which will be the D-ring). If the lock tape is already narrower than the strap of the strap, then place it exactly in the center.

Zipper

Sew the strap with the fastener on the long sides as close to the edge as possible. Change the presser foot on the sewing machine or sew on your hands.

Step 2. Process the bottom edge of the zipper

It's about the edge opposite the one on which the castle is located. It is best to remove the detachable limiter (for example, pliers).

Very carefully trim the edges of this end, repeating their shape. It's easier to do this on your hands.

Process the lower edge of the zipper

Stitches should be small and inconspicuous withthe outside. For some types of tissue it is difficult to do this; in this case - glue this end with adhesive for the fabric, leaving the strap under the press, until the glue dries.

Step 3. Sew the rings

Place the rings on the end of the workpiece and eithersew (zigzag seam), bending the fabric, or, if the fabric is completely artificial, set it on fire, passing through the flame. It's best done over a basin or a sink full of water, in case the flame gets out of control. Chemical fibers burn very quickly.

or sew

Close the zipper and sew (loose) loose ends of the zipper. Then bend the fabric and stitch it so that the zipper is secured in addition.

Then fasten the strap around the rings (at a distance of 2-2.5 cm from them) with a pin and also stitch it.

Step 4. The second end of the belt

Sweep it, curling it by 0.5-1 cm.

Do not forget to try on the belt to make sure that its second end freely passes (folded) through the rings and is securely held there.

Everything - the belt is ready.

What else do you need to know about this belt:

Pull things out of the pocket as much as possibleCaution. Do not do this in a public place, but, if necessary, try to hide your actions (for example, getting things sitting at a table - the table will close the strap).

Distribute things evenly on the pocket so that it does not fray, and do not put convex objects there.

To put a bill, fold it not across, but along - an accordion.

And, finally, never forget to pull out the contents of your pocket before putting the strap in the washing machine!
