How to make and arrange a herbarium of leaves

Making a herbarium of leaves with a child studying injunior grades, specify first at school, what requirements are required for the design of this work. There are several common ways to make a herbarium, they are all good and equally popular, but the school can insist on one single element (the presence or absence of tissue paper, for example) or even require the entire herbarium to be converted into an electronic form, -sides.

Whichever method is required, remember - the collectionHerbarium is part of the training. Collect leaves together with the child, help him identify the types of trees, talk and talk about them, help to dry, glue and connect, but do not do all the work alone and completely. It's not that the herbarium is the most accurate in the class, but that the child learns something.

There are general rules for the collection and drying of plants, no matter how later they will be formalized.

Remember:

  • it is best to collect leaves for the herbarium in dry weather - they are more difficult to dry with wetter;

  • Choose only whole and clean leaves. Typically, the herbarium needs leaves of 15-18 species of trees, but this fact also needs to be clarified in the class;

  • The selected specimens must, of course, be dry, but not last year, scattered in trash;

  • leaves are usually not washed and processed, so choose a clean place in advance;

  • to dry any plants, they must be putunder the press. The simplest kind of press is to put a sheet between the pages of the book, and then either put it on a shelf between other books, or put it on the table at the very bottom of the stack of books.

The second way is faster. But this drying a little spoils the book, because the moisture goes from the sheet to the page. A little to protect the paper in the book is possible, first putting a leaf between sheets of ordinary, clean paper, and only then putting in the book itself.

But if for some reason you are not satisfied with the way withbooks, you just need to organize the semblance of an ordinary press: on several sheets of paper (preferably soft, but dense and without a relief image), put all the leaves, cover again with paper, top gently put a dosochku or any flat durable object, and press down with a heavy load. The leaves dry for a couple of weeks. Do not dry them with a hair dryer or in an oven - they will curl up and not be flat, they can not be spread later.

Herbarium in the box

This type of herbarium - on separate sheets of whitecardboard, laid in a beautifully decorated box. Inside, usually sheets of cardboard with a signed material and a general list with descriptions of the properties of any other tree. Glue the dried leaves on the cardboard with glue-pva.

Then, using glue, stapler or threadattach a piece of tissue paper to the cardboard, completely covering the entire leaf with the plant. Now he will not come in contact with other samples in the box, but he is still clearly visible.

Glue the sheets on paper sheets A4, signname, glue on top of each cigarette paper, as in the case with the box, do not forget to issue the title and fix the entire stack with a stapler, like a regular essay. You can take for this purpose an ordinary album for drawing with dense pages (then you do not have to fasten paper); just seal his cover.

Some schools require a descriptionleaves or trees, and in some, on the contrary, give freedom of creativity in design and content (for example, "sign" not with a pen, but paste in a collage technique cut letters from magazines, stick the leaves not on A4 paper, but in a kraft album and t .).
