Diseases of indoor plants: fungal diseases. Part 2In the previous part of the article "Diseases of indoor plants"You could already familiarize yourself with various pests, viruses and fungi that damage flowers. Let's talk about other equally dangerous fungal diseases that you may encounter.

As you already know, fungal diseases of plants very quickly spread. High humidity and warm airthe temperature in the room contributes to the very rapid spread of spores of fungi from the leaves of the diseased plant to a healthy one. So that you do not have to completely destroy the plant, you should carefully monitor the presence of various sucking insects on the discharge of which fungi can settle. Weakened by viral or bacterial diseases, plants are also highly susceptible to fungal attack. We will tell in more detail about the remaining fungal diseases that pose a danger to the health of your plants.

Black or black fungus

Black fungusBlack is caused by fungi, settling on the secretionssucking insects: whitefly, aphid or black potato. This disease manifests itself in the form of a thin dry black film on leaves, very similar to soot. By itself, this plaque carries no danger to the plant. But it clogs the respiratory stomata on the leaves, as a result of which the process of respiration of the plant is disturbed. Slowing down and weakening can lead to the development of other diseases of houseplants on your flower.

Measures to combat black fungus are very simple. First, you should carefully monitor thepresence of pests on plants. Carry out system treatment of plants with an ordinary insecticide. To fight the fungus itself, it is enough to wipe the affected plants with a sponge soaked in soapy water. Also, a bit of copper sulfate can be added to the soap solution.

Late blight

Late blightMost often this disease is observed in garden crops of plants, such as potatoes and tomatoes. But from the indoor plants with late blight, it is very common for Saintpaulia. Late blight also caused by fungus. With the development of late blight, the plant looks stunted and sluggish, as if it lacks water. But after watering, you can only observe even more oppression of the flower. The leaves fade even more, and the rot on the stem progresses. The source of the development of this disease of indoor plants are unsterilized earth mixtures, pots or tools, in which sick flowers grew.

Unfortunately, the disease is always found only at the stage when it is no longer possible to save the plant. Therefore, it is better to prevent this dangerous disease. Be sure to use the sterilized land and the inventory in which you will grow the plants.

Fusarium

FusariumFusarium Is a very dangerous and common fungaldisease of plants. It is very rapidly progressing, which is promoted by high humidity of air and soil. Fusarium infection affects plants at any age. But most of all it is dangerous for young plants. The fungus that causes this disease is in the soil, but penetrates the plant through the wound. Fusarium very quickly leads to the death of the plant - for 5-7 days. But sometimes the disease can take on a chronic form and last for weeks.

In plants affected by this fungus, there is decay of roots and root collar. In places of decay, one can see the ripetissue. The stalk of the plant is thinned, the leaves turn yellow. The withering of the plant begins with its top. To this disease plants are susceptible, already weakened by other diseases.

Treatment for this disease of indoor plants is not. A sick flower will have to be destroyed along witha lump of land in which he grew up. It is also necessary to disinfect the pot with chlorine lime or a solution of copper sulfate (5%). If you notice a wilting plant at an early stage, you can try to save your flower. For this, it can be treated with Benomyl or Vectra. You can also re-root the plant by cutting off its upper stem.

Fusariosis is very similar to other fungal diseases - wilt, or verticillosis. All manifestations of the disease are similar to the symptomsfusariosis. But the fact is that the obvious signs of the disease you may not notice. In acute disease, the plant suddenly fades and quickly dies. To judge about this disease it is possible only on a cut. On it should be clearly visible brown ring of vessels. Control measures with wilt are the same as with fusariosis.

Rust

RustAnother dangerous fungal disease of houseplants is rust. It is caused by various rusty mushrooms. This disease is manifested by the formation of orange-brown tubercles on the leaf surface, very similar to rust on metal. On the reverse side of the leaf you can see small pustules of round or oval shape. Gradually, leaves affected by rust, turn yellow and fall off. Combating rust can be done with fungicides. The treatment of the plant with a Bordeaux mixture or cuproxate also helps. The treatment of plants should be turned 2-3 times with an interval of 10 days.

Black leg or root rot

BlacklegA number of pathogenic fungi can cause dangerous diseases of indoor plants under a common name root rot. Pelargonium is especially affected by this disease. Fungal areas of the base of the cuttings or roots begin to rapidly blacken and rot. To cause defeat by root rot can both insufficiency of light, and an excess of moisture in the soil.

The above disease is bluetooth - this is one of the varieties of root rot. For the prevention of black leg should be monitoredfor the state of the soil - it should not be waterlogged. To treat a sick plant, remove the affected part of the fungus. Spray the plant with Bordeaux fluid, cuproxate, or colloidal sulfur. You can also try to water the plant with a solution of potassium permanganate.
