The Church forbids loud conversations and all earthly joys, Orthodox Christians give time each day to communion with God and prayer; in the same week, believers give prayers much more time. Days of the week in Holy Week



Every day on the Holy Week has its name and its importance. Every day of the week is usually called Passionate.




  • Great Monday passes under the memoirs of the Old Testament Patriarch Joseph, who became the prototype of the Savior. In our ancestors it was decided to prepare for the Great Easter and clean up in their homes.

  • Good Friday - this day is marked by the mostsevere events for Christians: the judgment, the crucifixion and the death of Christ. This day passes without the liturgy. Believers in the church carried a shroud. Good Friday is the most important day for the Passionate Week and Christians are praying intensively and reflecting on what can and can not be done to a believer in order to abandon the sinfulness of worldly life


  • A great Sabbath for believers isa memory of the stay of the Son of God in the tomb. This day is significant for all believers, as it is marked by the convergence of the Holy Fire on the earth.


  • Ends in Holy Week, Lent onGreat Sunday. Easter is the greatest holiday for Christians, bright and joyful, which symbolizes the resurrection of the dead from Jesus Christ. The symbols of the holiday are Easter cakes, painted eggs and fire.
