Who represented Russia at Eurovision in past years
Let's remember who already represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest.
For the victory at Eurovision Russia fought 18 times. For the first time this country was represented by singer Masha Katz (Dublin, Ireland, 1994) - a talented girl performed under the stage name of Judith. Her composition "Eternal Wanderer" took 9th place, and for the first time it was a decent result.
In 1995 Eurovision was performed by PhilippeKirkorov, who enjoyed great love from spectators and fans. However, he failed to achieve good results. Two years later, in 1997, on the stage of the Eurovision in Ireland, even the prima donna Alla Pugacheva with the same hit "Prima Donna" tried its hand. The result is the 15th place among 25 performers.
In 1998-1999, Russia did not participate in thecompetition, and Eurovision 2000 was decisive for the singer Alsou. At that time she was very popular among teenagers, her songs were heard everywhere. Alsu at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 performed a song in English "Solo". Heath gave her 2 place. So close to victory from the Russian singers was not yet none.
In the following years, the groups Mumiy Troll and the Prime Minister failed to get even to the top five leaders, they took the 12th and 10th places respectively.
Russian Eurovision Song Contestants by Year
Time passed, new idols appeared in Russia. Tatu and Eurovision in 2003 were remembered by many eccentricities for their eccentricity. It was their performance and scenic images that allowed the Russian band to take 3rd place with their hit "Do not believe, do not be afraid, do not ask." Russian fans were very sorry, because the group Tatu was not enough to win only 3 points.
In 2004 and 2005 there were twobeautiful and sensual singers Julia Savicheva and Natalia Podolskaya, but the viewer wanted more shows, so the girls took only 11 and 15 seats, respectively.
At Eurovision 2006 Dima Bilan was able to get intothree leaders and achieve 2 places, as once fragile Alsu. Only for such an ambitious performer as Bilan, this was not enough, and he will return for his 1 place with new forces and a new stage program.
In 2007 the group Silver at the Eurovision Song Contestconquered viewers and juries in Helsinki, Finland with the song "Song No. 1". Beautiful girls in strict black suits - that's the course to win, but this performance did not bring Russia 1 place. The group got only 3 positions.
In 2008, Dima Bilan decided to try his ownforce for the second time and yet achieve the desired. His hit "Believeme" in Belgrade (Serbia) finally brought Russia a long-awaited victory. The stage number was modest, and at the same time unique, in the background, the audience watched the performance of the famous Russian figure skater Plushenko.
At Eurovision 2009 Russia from the first placedropped to 11. The composition of Anastasia Prikhodko in the Russian-Ukrainian language did not touch the demanding viewers nor the soul-piercing text, nor the clip that was shown in the background.
In 2010 and 2011, participants from Russia alsocould achieve good results, and not even entered the top ten performers. But the "Buranovski grandmothers" at the Eurovision 2012 literally blew up the audience. Their incendiary "Party for Everybody" brought the band 2 place and universal recognition.
In 2013, Russia at Eurovision was represented by Dean Garipova with the song "What If". The girl took the 5th place, which is a worthy result for such a young performer as Dina.
But the performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 for Russiawas special. The fact is that Tolmachev's sisters represented the country, who once took part in the children's version of this song contest and then took 1st place. Unfortunately, the singers could not repeat their children's success and the composition "Shine" took the 7th place.
Today the country held its breath in anticipationEurovision Song Contest 2015 by Polina Gagarina. Let's hope that the hit "A MillionVoices" really will bring a talented beauty millions of votes and give Russia a victory.
