Day of the Holy Trinity
On Sunday, June 3, 2012, the Orthodox Church celebrates Day of the Holy Trinity. This is one of the ongoing (mobile) church holidays,

it is celebrated seven weeks after Easter - on the fiftieth day. Hence the second name - Pentecost.

On the tenth day after the ascension of Jesus Christ, the Jews had a great feast of Pentecost. This holiday was celebrated in memory of the Sinai

the law received by the Jews fifty days after their withdrawal from Egypt. It was the fiftieth day after the Resurrection of Christ. The Mother of God with

apostles, disciples of Christ and other believers were in the same room in Jerusalem.

"It was the third hour of the day, according to the Jewish account of the clock, that is, in our opinion - the ninth hour of the morning. Suddenly there was a noise from the sky, as if from a rushing strong wind,

and filled the whole house where the disciples of Christ were. And tongues of fire appeared and rested (stopped) one on each of them. All were filled with the Spirit

Saint and began to praise God in different languages, which they did not know before. "

As the Savior promised, on Apostles in the form of bright, fluttering fiery tongues, the Holy Spirit came down. At that moment, the Mother of God and the apostles felt an extraordinary

force acting on them, and each of the beneficent began to speak a language he did not know before. It was a gift from above, necessary for

spread the gospel truth throughout the world.

The Holy Spirit came to complete what was begun by the Savior, and make the apostles preachers of the Gospel for all multilingual peoples, to the genus

the human has learned those divine gifts that were acquired for him by the sufferings of the Son of God. And this sign came off in the form of fire, to show that

He has the power to scorch sins and purify, warm and sanctify the soul.

At this time many Jews from different countries came to Jerusalem on a holiday. The apostles came out to them and started preaching the risen Christ to different

languages. Everyone who listened to the sermon in their own language asked the apostle Peter what to do. Peter answered that they all need to repent and

to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Then those who believed in Christ were baptized. There were a lot of them - about three

thousands of people. After this, the Kingdom of God began to be established on earth - the Church of Christ.

Convergence of the Holy Spirit symbolizes the care of all individuals of the Triune God of peace: God the Father created the world, God the Son protects people from the slavery of the devil, God

The Holy Spirit sanctifies the world through the Church and the preaching of faith for all nations.

On this festive day of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Christians decorate their houses and temples with green branches and flowers.

This custom goes back to the Old Testament Church, since the synagogues and houses at Pentecost were decorated with greenery in memory of how, at the Sinai

sorrow all grew green and blossomed when Moses received the tables of the law. At the same time, according to the general custom, the Sion's room was also adorned, where the apostles

the Holy Spirit descended.

And the green and flowering branches remind that under the influence of God's grace human souls flourish with the fruits of virtues.

On this beautiful holiday, on the Day of the Holy Trinity, decorated with greenery temples resemble an oak tree, because they remember the phenomenon of Abraham the Trinity in Mamvri

oak forest.

The day of the Holy Trinity is also called the birthday of the Christian Church.
