International Children's Day

Every year on the first day of summer International Children's Day. In November 1949, the International Democratic Women's Federation decided to hold a festival in defense of children, and June 1, 1950 such a celebration was held for the first time. It was supported by 51 countries.





The United Nations also supported this endeavor, and the protection of the rights, life and health of children around the world has been declared one of the priorities of its activities.




According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adoptedThe UN General Assembly in 1959, every child has the right to education, the enjoyment of cultural achievements, the right to rest and leisure, as well as the provision of other services to children by UN member states.



But now millions of children around the worlddo not have the opportunity to go to school, get medicine or even food. Millions of children live on the street. Infant mortality from such terrible ailments as AIDS, tuberculosis increases every year. Children's crime, drug addiction and alcoholism are a real scourge of modern society, and exploitation of child labor remains one of the most serious problems in the world.



International Children's Day is another opportunity to draw public attention to these global problems.



The task of modern society - help every child become at least a little happier and on International Children's Day in manycities and countries are charity events. In addition, various fun competitions, prizes, concerts and exhibitions are held on this day for children.
