Architect's Day
July 1, 2010, professional architects celebrate their holiday - the World Day of the architect. This holiday was founded by the International Union of Architects (ISA) and is celebrated since 1985.
International Union of Architects was officially registered in 1948, butthe idea of its creation was born two years earlier - in September 1946. Post-war disruption and economic decline demanded the unification of efforts of people of all countries and nations affected by the war, to restore favorable living conditions for people, to restore monuments of architecture, religious buildings.
Since 1985, the World Day of the Architect (Architecture) was celebrated annually on the first Monday of July. However, in 1996 year at the 20th meeting of the supreme body of the UIA - the General Assembly of the UIA - was adopted decision to postpone the celebration of World Architect's Day on the first Monday of October and coincide with the World Day of Housing.
In connection with the postponement of the celebration of the World Architect's Day, there was some confusion. Some sources highlight professionalDay of the architect and World Architecture Day on two separate holidays and offer to celebrate them separately: July 1 - Architect's Day, the first Monday in October - World Day of Architecture.
In particular, in Ukraine at the state level a separate holiday is fixed - Day of Architecture in Ukraine. It is celebrated on July 1 as World Dayarchitecture "in the old way." This holiday was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 456/95 of June 17, 1995. According to this decree, on the Day of Architecture of Ukraine, the awarding and awarding of State Prizes of Ukraine in the field of architecture is traditionally held.
But, one way or another, The architect's day is an important and significant holiday not only for professional architects, but also for all connoisseurs of architecture.
