May 9, 2012 marks the 67th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). From April 23 to May 9 in many cities of Russia and CIS countries is held public action "George ribbon". The slogan of the action: "I remember! I'm proud!". The action "St. George's ribbon" was founded by RIA Novosti and the "Student Community" in 2005. The organizers of the action distribute symbolic ribbons for free - "St. George Ribbons".
Ribbons are manufactured and distributed through charitable donations from entrepreneurs and individuals. The goal of the action "St. George's ribbon" "was the desire, at all costs, not to let the new generations forget who and at what price won the most terrible war of the last century, whose heirs we remain, what and who should be proud of, who to remember."
The symbolic "St. George ribbon" is not an exact copy of St. George's ribbon - Two-color ribbon to the Order of St. George,St. George's cross, St. George's medal. The symbolic ribbon only uses ribbon colors - black and orange - meaning "smoke and flame" and are a sign of the soldier's personal valor on the battlefield.
