After an hour they should be wrung out, and then rinse well in clean water.

To wash the fur, you can also use thissolution: for 10 liters of water, take 500 g of slaked lime, 150 g of alum and 250 g of iron sulfate. This mixture should be applied with a brush. Leave the skins to dry completely, then rinse them thoroughly several times in clean water. When the fur is cleaned, you can start painting it.

They should also be stretched on a flat surface (for example, a board) and fastened. On this surface, the skins will not only be painted, but also washed underwater after application of the paint.
