Russian-European Laika

Laikas are very popular in domestic conditions, they are clever, strong, enduring, they possess excellent hunting qualities. Russian-European Laika among them occupies a special place: this breed of dogs is good both in hunting for a fur-bearing animal, and in hunting for a bird, and even in hunting large game. Russian-European Laika (REL) as the breed of dogs was officially recognized in 1949 and belongs to the group of northern hunting dogs. It was bred as a result of crossing Arkhangelsk, Karelian, Votyacki, Vogul and several other Laika children. Today it is popular not only in Russia, but also abroad.
Russian-European Laika, in accordance with the breed standard, can reach from 50 to 58 cm in height (at the withers), the wool of these dogs is stiff, straight,thick. The tail, like most laikas, is bent by a ringlet, the ears are standing, a characteristic "clutch" of wool is expressed on the neck. The color of Russian-European Laika can be black or white solid, as well as black and pie.
Russian-European huskies are not recommended for maintenance in ordinary urban apartments, because they need space. In addition, dogs of this breed may exhibit aggression, and therefore, when keeping in the city, they should always be walked on only on a leash. That is why it is best to keep these laikas in the enclosure on the territory of a private country house, where the dog can freely run into. At the same time on the territory of the enclosure you need a warm booth for the winter period.
Dogs of the breed Russian-European Laika, as already mentioned, different universality of their hunting qualities: whether it's a duck, a rabbit or a big game likemoose and wild boar, these huskies will still cope with their task. Thanks to his ferocious and intrepid character, by the way, Russian-European huskies are often used after special dressing even as service dogs and can help detain criminals.
Regardless of whether REL is kept in a private house or in an apartment, care for them is not very difficult. The dogs of this breed are very clean, theirwool does not require any special care. However, during the moulting period, the dog should be regularly combed out so that the wool does not "fly" around the house or apartment.
Feeding of the Russian-European Laika does not require large costs from the owners, because these dogs with pleasure will eat everything thatremained from the master's dinner or dinner. But that the dog was healthy and lived a long life, it is better for her to choose a separate food, specially balanced specifically for the needs of this breed.
So, the Russian-European Laikums you can give meat, offal, porridge, vegetables, dairy products. These dogs will also benefit from sea fish. Feed adult laikers should be twice a day, during intensive work - three times. The amount of feed is calculated based on the weight of the dog: for each kilogram of husk should receive from 5 to 25 grams of meat.
Experienced breeders do not recommend "planting" Russian-European husks for dry food, since such a food can cause harm fromhealth. It is allowed to give dry food as a treat during dog training, but no more. Prohibited for REL, by the way, also different smoked foods, sweets - this negatively affects the health of their liver.
Russian-European Laika, despite its nature, can be excellentcompanion to man, because it is true and wholeheartedly devoted to the master. Do not forget that dogs of this breed (however, like any others) require from the owner reciprocal love and affection: only then the joint life of the pet and the owner promises to be happy and long.
