Laying the laminate with your own hands
Laminate - very popular coating for any room: and in the apartment, and in the office. Laying the laminate yourself is quite simple, so you can save on calling the masters. We offer several simple steps for laying the laminate with your own hands.
Step 1. Prepare a laminate. The fact is that before laying the laminate is better to lie for a couple of days in the room where it will fit. This is necessary in order to laminate "acclimatized". The room temperature should be maintained at approximately 18 ° C.
Step 2. Prepare the floor surface. Laminate can be laid on the floor of any solid material, for example, concrete, chipboard, wood. The surface of the floor should be flat, therefore, to smooth out all irregularities, a floor screed is usually performed. Although, if the previous floor coverings, for example, parquet, are even, do not creak or shake, then they can become the basis for the laminate.
Step 3. Before laying laminate it is necessarysubstitute the substrate. This substrate performs noise-absorbing, damping and moisture-proof functions. The substrate is made of foamed polyethylene, cork. Between the stripes of the substrate there should be no gaps or, on the contrary, overlaps, it should be laid back and forth. You can connect the strips of the substrate with a paint tape.
Step 4. Begin laying the laminate. Laminate - floating coating, i.e., it is not attached to the floor, but only the ends of the laths are attached to each other. It is possible to lay a laminate with the use of glue and without it. Recently, most often use the glueless method of laminate assembly. When laying a laminate coating, you should leave a special deformation gap between the wall, various fixed objects and the laminate itself. This gap is approximately 10-12 mm and is necessary for the possibility of expanding the wood laminate with changes in the moisture-temperature regime in the room. To maintain the deformation gaps put special pegs or spacers.
Step 5. Laminate laminate is better, starting from the window bydirection of the sun's rays. So will be less visible seams. Begin laying the laminate from a solid panel. When the row is laid out, the last panel is cut to the desired length. If the remaining piece of the panel has a length of more than 40 centimeters, then from this piece you can begin to spread the next row. The main thing - remember that the distance between the joints of panels in adjacent rows should be at least 30 cm. If you want to put a laminate, for example, near the pipes, you can use a jigsaw. Using a jig saw, cut out the cutout in the panel of the required dimensions, taking into account the gap between the pipe and the laminate.
Step 6. When docking the panels, it is necessary to tap them first along, and then across, to snap the locks (with the glueless method).
Step 7. At the end of laying all deformation gapsmust be closed with a decorative skirting board. The plinth is fixed not to the laminate, but to the wall. The joint on the threshold is closed with a special metal paddle. Such thresholds should also be installed if the room dimensions exceed 10-12 m in length and 8 m in width.
