Sliding doors
Sliding doors (or door-coupes) are a structure consisting of one or several canvases. This construction closes and opens the opening by shifting to the right or left side.
The main distinguishing feature of slidingdoors is that they, on the one hand, can save a lot of room space, and on the other hand, they can cover the openings of any width and height.
Types of sliding doors
Manufacturers of sliding doors offer today their various types:
- Depending on the material of manufacture:
- wooden;
- glass composites.
- depending on the method of opening:
- sliding on the wall;
- sliding in a wall aperture;
- sliding both ways.
- Depending on the guide:
- upper guide;
- lower guide;
- Combined construction (top and bottom rail at the same time).
The choice of sliding doors is very large, andis expressed by a variety of tastes and preferences of customers. But, regardless of various factors, the main requirement for sliding doors was and remains the guaranteed quality and consistency of the characteristics over time.
Sliding doors, or, otherwise, the door-compartment. An example of this type of door can be found in the metro, only there they go into the walls, and in the apartment you can make that the doors are placed on top of the wall.
Their obvious plus - they do not occupy the openingexcess space. There are also sliding partitions. Cardinal differences between them and the door-coupe in general there. The main difference in principle: if the doorway is closed, then this is the door, if the whole room is partitioned-this is the partition.
Sliding door design
Sliding doors consist of different components, which determine its type, durability and purpose.
Doors of this type consist of:
- door leaf;
- door frame, on which the canvas and other details are fixed;
- mechanism for sliding doors (guides);
- accessories.
Cloth of sliding doors
Door leaf - this is what in everyday life we andwe call the door. The door leaf also defines the actual function of the door: protection, fencing, heat preservation, etc. This part of the door is hung on the sliding mechanism. And already the door frame is sheathed on the opening. The door leaf is made from different materials, but most often from wood. In recent years, various glass composites have become increasingly widespread.
There are four types of sliding door leafs:
- sheets of fiberboard, chipboard and combined materials (bars of different types of wood);
- door leaves made of solid wood;
- door leaves made of wood and glass;
- glass composites, for example, glass with aluminum fringing.
The cheapest models of sliding doors made of fiberboardand chipboard, the most expensive of the glass-composite fabric. But it should be remembered that the fulfillment of other elements of the sliding doors is essential.
Door frame of sliding doors
The door frame of the sliding door has the form of a frame structure and is fixedly fixed to the walls of the doorway.
Made a box of a sliding door of solid pieces of wood, fastened to the doorway with glue and screws. For framing and decorating the door frame, use platbands.
Sliding door guides
The mechanism for sliding the door determinesthe direction of opening the door, and also ensures the fastening of the door leaf to the door frame. There are mechanisms with a lower guide, upper guide and combined. The better the upper guide the quieter the movement of the canvas along it. The mechanism consists of several elements:
- profile guides (rails);
- rollers;
- stopper and stop.
Guides set the direction of movement of the sliding door, and the rollers provide this movement.
The stopper locks the sliding door, and the stopperDetermines the maximum distance that the door can move apart. In the standard version, the limiter is fixed in the most sliding system, and the stopper is attached to the floor and hidden by the door itself.
One important rule should be observed here: The choice of the mechanism depends on the weight of the sliding door. For a larger weight, more rollers are used, and a smaller amount is used for a smaller weight. Therefore, you should use the mechanism that will ensure the durability and normal functionality of the sliding door.
Sliding door fittings
Sliding door fittings provide convenienceuse, gives the door the necessary visual and aesthetic qualities, determined by the tastes and preferences of customers. There is an opinion among engineers that "beauty in functionality", but this is just the case when you can successfully combine both beauty and necessary functionality.
Note that each of the elements of the sliding doors is important and ensures the performance of the requirements for sliding doors.
The feature of the sliding door fittings isthat the handles should not impede the movement of the door to the wall. Hence, the requirements for their placement, appearance and material of manufacture are determined.
In addition to the handle for sliding doors, another element of the fittings is used - a device for extending the door from the wall. With its help you can also unhindered to push the door.
Typically, this device is mounted in the end of the sliding door.
