How to sew a bag with a delimited folder

A handbag with delimiters will be useful to everyone who often carries a paper - from A4 sheets to business cards, and its appearance and size can be made as you want.

Necessary materials

In order to sew a handbag-folder at home, take:

thick soft self-adhesive lining fabric (thickness should be about 3 mm.);

Any fabric of any color of your choice forthe bag itself and for the dividers (but remember that with very dense fabrics, for example, velvet, it will be more difficult to work, and very thin can simply not hold the weight of the contents of the bag and tear, even if they are reinforced with a tight self-adhesive "lining");

Needles with a thread in the tone of the fabric or sewing machine;

lock with a magnet (or any other lock for the bag - loop, valve, metal buckle);

a blank for measuring (think what you want to make a purse for - business cards, papers of a certain size, etc. and take one copy of the business card or one page);

cardboard or paper for patterning, pencil;

iron.

Carefully read the instructions for self-adhesive tissue - if you need to wet it or wash it before gluing it, you will have to do it.

Draw a pattern using a blank template. Thus, you will receive a handbag of the size you need, but do not forget to add 2 cm above and below - for the allowance.

The pattern of the outside of the bag must consist ofthree parts: front, rear and valve. Between each section, leave about 1.8 cm for the bottom and the folding part of the valve - so that the folder does not look too plump and could hold more papers.

Prepare two large cuts of fabric for the outside of the bag, the same size.

Cut out the self-adhesive filler fabric bypattern, lay out on the "outer" fabric and sew each section; Sew the entire workpiece with the second cut of fabric and iron over the iron to fix the lining.

Now you need to make the inside - dividers and folding side panels.

Draw a pattern for the side panels in the formsector - a rectangular triangle with a semicircle instead of the side opposite the right angle (this is easily done by cutting the circle into four equal parts). Transfer it to the cloth - twice. The sides should be flexible and easy to fold, so if you have a thick enough fabric, it is better to make them single and do not sew the fabric twice.

Pockets should be slightly smaller than the back andfront sides in width, but slightly larger than their length (do not forget about the allowance, the same in size as the one that was left in the manufacture of the outer part). Cut a piece of fabric twice as long as necessary, and sew into it an exactly sized piece of self-adhesive fabric.

Iron each of them, treat all the seams.
Separators can, in theory, do as much as you like, but in a handbag with a bottom of 2.5 cm, it's best to put 3-4 dividers.

Sew the dividers to the sides using the allowance. All of them should diverge from the center of the right angle, like the petals of a flower.

Sew the valve and the front wall into two partsmagnetic fastener. They are usually located near the bottom edge of the valve (2-3 cm from the edge) and at the same distance from the bottom of the bag on the front side. Check if the parts of the lock are joined to each other before sewing them.
