Easter Crafts: Easter Egg from Polymer Clay
Perhaps the most popular Easter crafts are the various Easter eggs of their improvised materials. The country of the Soviets will tell you how to make Easter egg made of plastic (polymer clay), decorated with multicolored mosaic.
Polymer clay - very malleable, but very durable and durable material. Easter crafts made of plastic are bright and unusual. But keep in mind that a child can make Eastercrafts from polymer clay only under the guidance of adults: for cutting clay into pieces, sharp knives are used, and the child should not be baked to bake clay in the oven.
In order to make Easter crafts in the form of eggs decorated with mosaic of polymer clayYou will need such materials and tools:
colored polymer clay
roller (only not wooden, roller of wood will stick to the clay)
a set of sharp knives (or a collet knife with a set of replaceable blades)
non-stick baking paper
baking tray
grout mix
putty knife
egg
What kind of egg is used to make thiscrafts? Usually Easter crafts from ordinary boiled eggs are short-lived. Therefore, we advise you to take a raw egg, make two holes (one on the sharp end, the other on the blunt) and gently blow the contents of the egg through these holes. The remaining shell and serve as a base for crafts.
Take the clay out of the package and mash the clay of each color separately until it becomes soft. Roll each piece of clay with a roller, so that it becomes flat. One sheet of plastic should be rolled out thinner than the others: you will wrap an egg in it. If it is too thick, then the Easter craft will be baked for a long time.
The color of the clay in which you will wrapan egg, can be anything: anyway this layer of clay will not be visible later. It will serve as a base for the mosaic - without a base layer of clay, it will not adhere well to the shell. So, you need wrap an egg with a rolled plastic sheet and carefully level the surface so that the mosaic sticks well.
The remaining layers of polymer clay cut into pieces from which you will lay out the mosaic. Pieces can be of different size and shape: square, rectangular, triangular, etc. Then gently lay out of them a mosaic on the surface of a plastic-coated egg. You can draw a sketch of the mosaic pattern in advance, or you can improvise. Make sure that the pieces of the mosaic are well adhered to the base and do not fall off.
Now the egg can be baked. Cover the baking tray with non-stick baking paper and place the Easter egg decorated with mosaic on it. Put the egg in the oven and bake clay according to the instructions on the package. Periodically turn the egg. When the polymer clay is baked, allow the egg to cool.
When the egg cools, you need to fill in the gaps between the pieces of the mosaic. For this you can use waterproof mixture for grouting joints, used for laying ceramic tiles. Apply it most conveniently with a special putty knife.
Allow the mortar to dry for the time specified in the instructions. Then gently wash away excess grout with mosaic pieces with the help of warm running water. Dry the egg with a soft, clean cloth. Easter puzzle is ready! You can additionally cover the egg with a layer of clear varnish, but this is not necessary.
Of the polymer clay, you can make other Easter crafts, for example, bunnies, chickens or even a smart miniature basket with eggs. Be creative and you will succeed!
