How to make a beautiful pendant with a natural stone
Natural uncut stones are also veryare beautiful, but making jewelry with them at home is not easy - if you want to use such stones not as cabochons, but simply as part of the suspension, attaching them to the chain can seem very difficult. But in fact, drilling holes in the stones is not necessary, they can be attached without it.
Method 1. Aluminum strip
You will need:
- Aluminum can of any color (for example, from the soda);
- sharp knife;
- heavy-duty glue-gel;
- rubber bands for money;
- toothpicks or cotton swabs.
- Cut out the whole middle part from the jar and straighten ither. Now, in accordance with the size and shape of the stone from which you want to make the suspension, cut off a small rectangle from the plate - in the bent state it should cover about half the stone.
- Put the piece of aluminum with the side with the pattern up and apply two strips of glue on opposite sides of the rectangle. Do not apply glue in the center!
- Bend it and "put it on" (but not completely) on the stone, tightly pressing with your fingers. Between the center of the plate and the surface of the stone should be a small distance.
- Place a toothpick or a cotton swab at this distance.
- Secure it with a rubber for money, wrap it around the stone with the plate as tight as possible, and let it dry for 24 hours.
- In a day, remove the rubber and toothpick. The chain must be passed into the distance between the stone and the plate. The suspension is ready.
Method 2: A chain from two sides
This method is well suited for oblong stones.
Take:
- flat jewelry wire of any color (choose its width depending on the size of the stone, usual - 3 mm);
- jewelry glue (transparent, not white);
- toothpicks;
- 2 small connecting rings (best of all - flat, not ordinary, round wire);
- chain;
- nippers, round nose pliers, wide pliers (or a small adjustable wrench).
- Measure the opposite ends of your stone.
- Bite off two pieces of flat wire - so long that they grasp the ends of the stone (add 1-2 mm.).
- Bend them according to the shape of the stone and put on it (having receded from the edge at least 2 mm.), But do not clamp with pliers.
- Thread the wire, embracing the stone, the connecting rings, into the "rings" and lead them along the wire so that they are on top, on the "front" side of the suspension.
- Lubricate the toothpick with glue and, passing it under each clamp ring, apply glue to both the stone and the inner side of the ring itself.
- As tight as possible, tighten the rings with pliers or a wrench and leave to dry for several hours.
- Using pliers, secure the opposite ends of the chain on the connecting rings, and the suspension is ready.
Method 3: Tin
This method is suitable for stones in the form of a drop (optionally even) or flat sections.
Have to take:
- hard solder (without acid flux);
- heat resistant cup;
- drill with a very thin drill;
- chain;
- round pliers.
- Make a hook from two links of the chain, removing and unbending them. "Put the" hook on the stone at the point to which you want to later attach the chain.
- Preheat a little solder in a heat-resistant cup. It must become liquid; it takes 1-2 minutes.
- Dip the stone crocheted down into the cup - so that the solder covers it by 1-1.5 cm.
- Allow the solder to freeze.
- Carefully drill a thin drill hole in the solder where there should be a hole in the hook. The solder is very easy to drill, even its hard versions are rather soft.
- Hang it on a chain. Done.
