Crafts for the New Year: a paper snake

A paper snake can be made in a variety of techniques - from origami to papier mache. We offer several options for making paper snakes for the New Year, so that you can choose from them the one that you will most like.

To make kite in the papier-mache technique, you need to take a newspaper, thin white paper orPainting tape, thick wire, foam rubber (sponge), PVA glue, paints and a piece of red paper or cloth. The best thing is to use acrylic paints for this craft, but if you only have watercolor or gouache, they will do the same. Glue PVA can be replaced with wallpaper glue or self-welded pastry.

To start make a wire frame, giving it a curved shape, reminiscent ofcreeping snake. If you go to make a cobra with a swollen hood, make a loop at one end of the wire. If your snake made of paper is not cobra, you still need to make a loop - it will be a head, but the size of the loop should be smaller.

Cut the newspaper into strips and wrap the frame around them. Properly coat the first layer with glue (if you use PVA, you can dilute it with water), then you can wrap the second layer of newspaper stripes. So alternate strips of newspaper and glueuntil the snake reaches a sufficient thickness. The last layer you need to paste a white paper or paint tape.

When the snake completely dries, color itlight paint - yellow, gray, light green or light brown. Making a piece of foam rubber round swab, apply a spotted pattern on the body of the snake. From red paper or cloth, cut out a forked tongue, gently cut the front of the head and paste the language, while gluing the cut. A snake made of paper is ready!

A beautiful paper snake is produced in origami technique. We offer one of the simplest schemes creating an origami snake. The sequence of actions you can see in the video below, but just in case we duplicate it.

First, fold a square sheet of green papersize 15 by 15 centimeters on the diagonal, and then expand. Now bend the adjacent sides, aligning them along the central fold line. Repeat this action one more time.

Then you need to bend the strip of the big corner down. Unfold, then exactly in the same way bend the strip from above. Unfold, strip the strips together and form a square from the excess paper. The angle of the square is bent to the right, and the angles under the square bend in half.

Now you need to form the head of a snake, for whichIt is necessary to bend the sides of the square on both sides. After this, bend the snake's torso along and bend down the head band. Expand the quadrilateral of the head and bend down the second page of paper. So the snake's body is ready. It remains only to give the figure shape and slightly open his mouth.

Of course, you can make a snake out of paper with your own hands, using any other techniques: quilling, appliqué, modular origami. Show imagination and ingenuity! Say, if you do New Year's crafts withsmall children, you can make the most ordinary garland-chain of paper rings and glue to the first ring eye and forked tongue - it will not be a simple New Year's garland, but a garland-snake. And you can draw on a dense green paper a spiral with a center in the form of a snake's head and cut the pattern along a spiral contour. To the head of the snake glue the eyes and tongue, and then lift the hand-made article by the head. Simply and amusing!
