Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis is the most famous and easy-growing orchid species. You need to buy flowers in the shops, since this will guarantee you that the plant is adapted to room conditions.

During the period when you learn how to grow phalaenopsis, and apply it in practice, it will completely conquer your heart.

Just imagine: the formation of buds and flowering lasts continuously for six months. After three months of rest, the process resumes.

The difference and similarity of hybrids

There are a large number of hybrids: they can be with short and long leaves. To have different colors of flowers are monochrome and with specks: white, brown, blue, purple ...

Despite the fact that there is a huge variety of hybrids, they grow orchids at home, adhering to, practically, the same rules.

Growing phalaenopsis

1. There are tolerable and useful temperatures for domestic orchids. At the first, which are equal to +12 ° С and + 42 ° С, the plant can only survive: neither flowering, nor full growth will it. Long-term exposure to critical temperatures on phalaenopsis leads to its death.

Useful for the plant will be temperatures such as: + 20 ° C - in summer and + 16 ° C - in winter.

An obligatory condition is a night drop in temperature during the warm months.

2. Light is vital for any being. And phalaenopsis is no exception. For this type of orchid - this factor is the most important. In order for your flower to be healthy, and the process of growth did not stop, the intensity of lighting should be maximum all 12 months. The orchid has no period of rest, it grows green all year round.

If in the winter the flower starts to dry, to lose roots or there was some disease, then, most likely, it does not have enough light.

3. Although home-made orchids are not demanding for high humidity in the premises, excessive dryness can lead to the fading of the plant, in which it starts to discard the buds. Leaves become faded, a yellowish tint will appear.

To prevent this, you need to ventilate the room, purchase a humidifier or put a pot in a large container with moistened claydite without water.

4. You can water phalaenopsis in several ways:

  • immerse the pot one third into a container of water for about three hours;

  • water the substrate for about 15-20 minutes, so that it is thoroughly soaked, and the roots absorbed as much moisture as possible and acquired a green color;

  • to arrange phalaenopsis, the so-called "hot shower". With standing water, heated to + 30 + 35 ° C, the plant is well washed, opening the stomata located on the leaves.

If your orchid unexpectedly settles in your house, then be sure that in the near future you will go to buy her a girlfriend.
