This breed of cats really was named inthe honor of the South American rodent, but the coloring of the fur of chinchilla rodents and chinchillas is absolutely the opposite. The South American chinchilla fur is dark on the roots and light on the tips. A cat breed Persian chinchilla can boast thick fur with white undercoat and dark tips.



Color "chinchilla" means that the cat painted only the very tip of the hair (about 1/8 of the length), and the rest of its part -white or light yellow color. Due to this color the Persian chinchilla has a fur coat, than a foxlike fur: silvery-white fur, as if covered with a weightless dark veil.



Most often speaking, "Persian chinchilla" means silver chinchillas - just such a cat is described in the previous paragraph. But recently they are referred to as blue, chocolate, lilac, tortoise and golden chinchillas. Exceptions are only cats with red or creamy tips of hair (tipping) - they are called red and cream cameo, respectively.



In fact, the Persian chinchilla is not an absolutely independent breed of cats, but A species of Persian cat, characterized by a special color. In the United States, attempts were made to recognizesilver Persian chinchilla as a separate breed, but they were unsuccessful. Long-haired silvery and golden chinchillas at the shows are rated among other Persian cats.

The deformed nasal septum prevents Persian cats from breathing normally. The second defect is the inclination to blockage of lacrimal ducts.
