How to protect your pets from the heat?

In summer, all living things around are affected by heat. And if we, people, at least somehow manage to cope with it - eat 10 packets of ice cream, bathe in a pond or just stand under a cold shower, then how to help your pet? Sometimes animals have to be very difficult, because they do not have sweat glands and can not produce excess heat through sweat.

Vets advise to adhere to several simple rules to save your pet in hot summer weather.

First of all, you must provide your dog, cat, hamster, parrot, etc. constant access to cool water. Try to exclude from the diet for a while the heattoo fatty and heavy food. To avoid sunstroke, do not leave animals in the open scorching sun. You ask - but how then should they walk? Just try to do it in a cooler time - the dog can be taken out from 6 to 8 am and from 6 to 8 pm. In the afternoon, make only short walks, preferably in the shade and near the ponds.

Leaving the pet in a closed unventilated room, you risk that the animal can get a heat stroke. therefore in the apartment all doors and windows should be open. And try do not leave pets in the car, even with open windows, this can lead to sad consequences.

If during the walk your dog has a weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, redness of the eyes, frequentbreathing, it means that she suffered from a heat stroke. Find a comfortable place in the shade, remove the collar, moisten the head, give a drink of water, wipe the stomach and back with a wet napkin. Be sure to seek help from a veterinarian if the dog does not get better.

Long-haired dogs and cats for the summer you can cut a little, only not nalyso, because then their skin cansuffer from burns. The animals can be offered to swim in the pond, but the cat, unlike the dog, is unlikely to agree to this, even on a thermometer and + 50C. Instead, they can moisten the outer side of the ears with water and pat the cat with wet hands - this will cool the animal.

To protect from cats sunburn with white ears, on the edge of the ears can apply a protective cream against sunburn. The dog's fur can be sprayed from the spray with water, and also a damp towel on which the animal would sleep during the day.

Parrots, canaries and other birds are also sensitive to heat. Try to change the water in the watermore often, and it is even better to put in a cage some kind of a bathing tank. Do not harm your pets and a cool shower of sprinkler, which you arrange them once or twice a day.

Rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters need a sufficient supply of fresh air and a shady place. To facilitate the condition of rodents, it is also possibleto wet their ears. And in the cage you have to put a bottle of frozen water, necessarily wrapping it in a towel to avoid thermal shock. Water should also be changed regularly so that it does not heat up. Make sure that in the cage the rodents do not have uneaten perishable food, because this is an ideal place for the reproduction of bacteria and flies.

Do not forget about aquarium fish. Their habitat - water - can becomeunbearable for them because of the temperature increase. Therefore, more often look at the thermometer in the "fish house". Overheating can cause the death of your pets. Keep cold water in the refrigerator in case of excessive water temperature rise in the aquarium. Also in the aquarium you can lower the packets of ice - they will cool the water. Keep clean and remove any leftover food.
