The homeland of these parrots is sunny Australia, but alsoon our post-Soviet expanses the cockatoos feel no worse (at home, of course). These birds have a vivid, memorable appearance, in large part due to the tuft of feathers on the head, which can blossom like a fan. The color of feathers is a cockatoo, mostly white or black, with yellow, pink, brown or red spots.
By themselves, these parrots are very funny andinteresting indoor birds, because they have high artistic data. They crouch and bow in time with the music and without it, spread out their spectacular crest, easily learn about a dozen separate words or phrases, whistle songs from songs and reproduce various sounds. And they have secret technology to open the most cunning locks in a cage, unscrew nuts, like to repeat after the owner of the movement and to chase a small object in the cage instead of a ball.
And cockatoos are very affectionate birds. But they usually require attention to themselves, publishinga piercing loud cry - and not everyone likes it. But if your cockatoo is quite happy with life, then it will not be too much noise. These birds quickly become attached to people and suffer a lot of separation from loved ones. They live up to 70 years, so you will have time to enjoy the conversation with your pet.
When choosing cells for cockatoo, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of these birds - they have a very powerful beak and wingspan. Therefore, the cell should be spacious, strong and opening up. The size of the cage should be approximately the following: length - 80 cm; height - 90 cm; width - 80 cm with thick and very strong rods. In the cage it is necessary to put a bar with calcium to grind the beak, as well as toys, so that the cockatoo had something to do, and he did not begin to destroy the cage.
It is best to place a parrot's cottage in a light, well-penetrating sunlight, protected from drafts at an altitude of about 1 m.
For the proper growth and development of parrots, feeding is of utmost importance. Many substances play an important role even in very small quantities. The basis of the diet of cockatoos are mixtures of cereals. This can be a ready-made feed from specialshops or independently prepared in the summer. The only exception is the seeds of sunflower (ordinary seeds) and hemp. They do not need to be given often and in large quantities, since they cause a metabolic disorder in the body.
The main food of the parrot should be maximallyapproximate in composition to the natural. Try to diversify the diet as a cockatoo, because monotony worsens the quality of his life and is fraught with illness. This, of course, does not mean that you can give everything that you get. With pleasure uses parrot green and yellow vegetables, fresh fruits, eggs, grated cheese, in small quantities raisins and bananas. Better not give your pet salad and cabbage, avocado, parsley, as well as products containing caffeine.
Make sure that there is always fresh water in the cage. Do not be afraid that you will give your pet foodmore than necessary - it is better to overfeed than not to feed. All components of the feed should be fresh and high quality - this is the basis of your parrot's health and longevity. In order to keep the food fresh throughout the day, it is better to give easily spoiled foods in 2-3 meals in small portions.
