Catcher dreams with his own hands
Dream catcher is not just a fashion accessory forethnic interior. Indians attributed this amulet to the ability to protect a sleeping person from evil spirits. The country of the Soviets will tell you how to make a dream catcher yourself.
This Indian mascot is aThe web, woven from deer veins and harsh threads. The web was pulled on a circle made of willow twigs. To the resulting amulet hung several feathers. The dream catcher is usually hung over the head of the bed.
Different Indian tribes interpret differentlymeaning and purpose of this amulet. Some tribes believe that the dream catcher misses negative thoughts and dreams, so that they "flew" past the sleeper, and catches good ones. And other tribes, on the contrary, are sure that the catcher misses kind and pleasant dreams and thoughts, "delivering them to the right place," and terrible and evil dreams become entangled in the web and crumble with dawn.
Even if you do not believe in evil spirits and Native Americanmagic, you can use the dream catcher as the original decor element. And you can also give it to a friend who is keen on such a topic - in this case it will be better if you make a dream catcher yourself, because such gifts are much appreciated.
So, how to make a dream catcher yourself?
To make this amulet you will need:
base (metal or wooden hoop, embroidery frame, etc.);
thin braid of leather or fabric;
strong thread or cord;
beads and other accessories;
feathers.
For the "right" dream catcher, the primarya ring from a willow rod. But for convenience, you can take a hoop, a metal or wooden hoop, a ring of thick wire or any other suitable object. It should be wrapped tightly with leather or fabric tape (Scheme 1, Figure 1). You can take for this purpose and the usual thread - but it will take longer to wind. Someone glues the braid with transparent glue, someone considers it blasphemy. Do as you like.
Then start to weave the web itself. It is advisable to take for a cobweb a natural cotton or silk thread. It is woven in stages: the first circle is fixed on the basis, the second one on the first one, and so on. First tie the thread to the ring, leaving a small tip. From the long ring make the loops at a distance of about 3 cm from each other (Figure 1, Figure 2). The exact distance depends on the diameter of the ring. You can fix the loop by tying the thread with a knot, or you can simply twist the thread so that the loop does not open. During the weaving you can string multi-colored beads on the thread. After you finish weaving the first row, fix the thread (Scheme 1, Figure 3).

The second series is played on the first: The loops are made not on the hoop, but on the centers of the first string strand stretched between two adjacent loops (Figure 2, Figure 4). Having finished weaving the second row, the third principle is woven according to the same principle (scheme 2, figure 5). You can make more rows, three is a minimum. Do not forget that we can thread the spider webs on a string of beads. You can tie a quartz or another stone in the middle of the web.
After securing the last row, make a loop of a string or ribbon to suspend your dream catcher, as shown in the picture (Figure 2, Figure 6).

Now you can start hanging to youramulet of feathers. In general, the Indians used for eagle catchers eagle and owl feathers: eagles - for men, and owls - for women. But since in urban conditions they are unlikely to get, suited feathers of chicken, rooster, goose, duck or even a parrot.
Threads for hanging feathers are attached tocatcher as well as a loop for hanging. You can hang feathers one by one, or you can - with tufts. With feathers, you can also string beads, bells, etc. Some hang out to a large hoop with a spider's web a little small, and already to them - feathers. In general, do not be afraid to dream!
As you can see, making a dream catcher yourself does notso it is difficult. And even if it is not made according to all canons and differs from the authentic Indian amulet, but if you believe in it - you will only dream of the most pleasant dreams.
