Types of glasses

Tasting glass (Cellar Master Glass). The volume is 100-140 ml.
Glass for port (port) (Porto Glass). The volume is 80-100 ml.
Glass for sherry (sherry) (Cherry Glass). It serves sherry, fortified wines, vermouths. The volume is 80-100 ml.
Types of glasses: glasses for sparkling wines and champagne
Champagne is served either in high wine glasses ("wine glass flute") or in champagne bowls. The choice of glass affects the rate of carbon dioxide release from the drink.
Fougères-flute (Flute) (Champagne Flute). The volume is 160-300 ml. It also serves some beers, other sparkling wines and cocktails with them. More popular, because in such glasses, the carbon dioxide leaves more slowly.
Fouger-cup (Champagne Saucer). The volume is 140-160 ml. It is usually used at solemn events where it is necessary to build towers from glasses. It can also serve a variety of cocktails (for example, daiquiri).
Types of glasses:
Snifter (balloon) - a glass with a short stem with a wide bottom, tapering to the top. They serve brandy, brandy, whiskey.
Cognac glass (Cognac Balloon). It serves cognac, brandy, young Armagnac, Calvados. The volume is 250-875 ml.
Glass for Armagnac (Armagnac Glass). Strictly speaking, it does not apply to sniffers, but it is also used for strong drinks (armagnac and aged cognac). The volume is 150-250 ml.

Perhaps, the most numerous and varied type of glasses are glasses for cocktails. This includes the following types of wine glasses.
Cocktail glass (Cocktail Glass, Martini Glass). Also called a martini glass named after one of the most famous cocktails served in it. It serves medium-sized cocktails, chilled, but without ice. It is not used to serve drinks with ice and in pure form (including vermouth and Martini, despite the name). The volume is 90-280 ml.
Margarita (Margarita Glass). A glass for filing a cocktail "Margarita", as well as frozen cocktails and drinks. The volume is 200-250 ml.
Hayboll (Highball). Used for juices, carbonated and soft drinks, mineral water, large-volume cocktails. The volume is 160-240 ml.
Collins (Collins). Used for juices, carbonated and soft drinks, mineral water, large-volume cocktails. The volume is 240-320 ml.
Hurricane (Hurricane Glass). It serves tropical cocktails. The volume is 400-480 ml.
Glass for Irish coffee (Irish Coffee Glass). Used for a variety of coffee drinks and cocktails, as well as for mulled wine and other hot drinks. The volume is 240-280 ml.
Old Fashion (Old Fasioned). It serves whiskey in its pure form, cocktails, and drinks in pure form with ice. The volume is 220-300 ml.
Pus cafe (Pousse Cafe). In this glass make layered cocktails. The volume is 80-120 ml.
Toggle switch (Tumbler). Used for juices, carbonated and soft drinks, mineral water, large-volume cocktails. The volume is 200-320 ml.

Traditionally, certain cocktails are served in certain types of glasses. There is one basic rule: The lower the glass, the more strong drinks are poured into it. Usually glasses do not fill completely, so that the taste and aroma of the drink is better revealed (for example, red wine or cognac fill the glasses by a third, champagne - half).
