Methods of training and training dogsThere are several basic techniques that are used to educate and train dogs. Choosing the right method, taking into account the characteristics of the dog, her temperament.

Mechanical

This method is based on the reinforcement of the conditionalirritant physical or pain. At mechanical reception it is possible to achieve trouble-free performance by a dog of all commands, but this method is applicable only to strong, counterbalanced dogs. It is used for the training of guard dogs and for the initial training of phlegmatic dogs.

Disadvantages of the method: The dog is afraid of the trainer, coercion, without interest. As a result of the influence of strong irritants between a man and a dog, normal relationships based on trusting each other are violated.

Vkusoopobritelny

This method is based on the action of foodstimulus. Wishing to get a treat, the dog executes the command. With the use of this technique, a conditioned reflex is quickly developed, and contact between a dog and a man is easily established.

Disadvantages of the method: This technique does not ensure trouble-free operationdogs. A dog may refuse to perform a command if there is no treat or if it is full. A constantly fed dog tries to get a delicacy as soon as possible, so it performs commands without much exposure. This technique is practiced with any training, especially when training puppies and dogs.

Contrasting

This technique is based on a combination of mechanical andfood irritants. Combining the positive aspects of the two techniques, one can achieve more persistent reflexes and establish a lasting contact between the dog and the trainer.

Disadvantages of the method: it is necessary to combine both methods correctly.

Imitative

This method is based on natural observationpuppies for the behavior of adult dogs with joint participation in the work. The reception is popular in shepherd's service and some kinds of hunting training, also in the guard service.

Disadvantages of the method: not all dogs are able to learn this way.

The development of the skill in the dog occurs in several stages:

  1. The initial reaction to a certainirritant (sound command or gesture). Only the correct execution of the command is reinforced. The influence of extraneous stimuli should be absent.

  2. Complicating the established initial reflex by complementing other actions. Conditions do not change.

  3. To automate the dog training skills can be carried out under different conditions using stronger methods of influence on the dog.
