Repair lessons: how to insulate the balcony with your own hands
The warming of the balcony allows not only substantialReduce the overall heat loss of your home, but also use it as an additional living space. By and large, if you know how to properly insulate the balcony, you can ensure that even in the coldest temperatures the temperature on it was only a couple of degrees lower than in the apartment.
So, let's figure out how to insulate the balconyown hands. To begin with, you need to decide what is better to insulate the balcony, because there are a lot of different building materials now. Previously, foam was used as a heater for walls, but now more and more people refuse it.
The reason is quite simple - the emergence of moreperfect materials, in particular, penoplex. The difference between these two materials is that the foam has much worse thermal insulation properties and, at the same time, absorbs more moisture.
Thus, a sheet of a penoplex, 20 mm thick, provides exactly the same thermal insulation as a foam sheet 100 mm thick. On the other hand, polystyrene is much cheaper, so if you are not afraid of the loss of extra centimeters of useful space, you can also use it. Therefore, it's up to you to choose what to insulate the balcony inside to solve, because both materials have their advantages and disadvantages.
How to insulate the balcony with foam (foam)
To insulate the walls of the balcony from the inside to youa pair of sheets of heat-insulating material (for example, penoplex), as well as a special solution for fixing it to the walls (cement-mineral mixtures or glue liquid nails can be used). At the edges of the sheets there are special grooves, which allow them to join together the joint in the joint.
The heater can be mounted on the walls with the help ofplastic dowels (fungi) designed specifically for this purpose, but with liquid nails is much easier to work with. Glue is recommended to be applied, at least, in five points, and it is better and completely zigzag across the whole plate.
Directly under the window all the plates are fixed just a joint in the joint, but on the walls they are recommended to glue with a displacement of 30-40 centimeters relative to each other. It should also be noted that before the insulation, all walls should be carefully cleaned from any litter and preferably primed with a special solution that prevents the development of mold and fungus.
How to insulate the floor on the balcony
In the same way, it is possible to insulate the ceiling and floor onbalcony, with no special differences in the installation process. After you have finished gluing the slabs, all the slots must be blown with a mounting foam or with a liquid foam. If you want to raise the floor a little more, you can use ordinary wooden pallets and chipboard (you can also take moisture-proof plywood OSB) for these purposes.
Since the penoplex is strong enough,it is worth being afraid, for its safety. On the floor over the heater we install two pallets, so that their position is stable and there is no "play". Next, we lay on them a chipboard, on top of which you can already put a floor covering, for example, linoleum.
Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to say exactly, how much it costs to insulate the balcony, because for these purposes can use a variety of materials. And this applies not only to the insulation material itself, but also to the finishing materials. So, for walls it is possible to use moisture-resistant plasterboard or plastic panels, and on a floor and a ceiling the heater can and not be used at all, when it is a question of balconies on average floors.
