Looking at all possible posters of the series "Mentalist" and, in particular, the face of the main character, it is difficult to believe that such a person can deal with investigations of especially serious crimes.

It was because of the protagonist, when a lot of friends advised me to watch this series, I refused and absolutely in vain. The fact is that behind an intelligent appearance and an eternal smile lies an acute mind that can cope with the most difficult task and remember absolutely everything, even the smallest, details.
He perfectly defines the lie without anyequipment, can determine the type of activity killed by one hand only and to provoke the offender for the necessary actions. He is Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), a bit eccentric, completely unmanageable, but at the same time an extremely charming consultant to the California Bureau of Investigation.
Plot
The plot line of the series "Mentalist" can be comparedwith "Dr. House" or "Theory of Lies" - there is a protagonist and his team who conduct investigations, in this case, murders. However, there are some differences in the plot from the serials for comparison. First, the central storyline that runs through the whole series is hunting for the serial maniac killer Bloody John.
Secondly, Patrick Jane, whatever he wasgenius, is not the leader of the team, but only helps to disclose matters as a consultant. In fact, there is a symbiosis between the genius of mental work and the employees of the CBD. On the one hand, the CBD needs Jain's services, because it increases the detection. On the other hand, the Mentalist himself can not do without the help of the Bureau, since he needs information about Bloody John.
