Hirudotherapy: treatment with leeches
In our high-tech 21st century, everyone is used to being treated with medication. It is a pity that we gradually forget about the medicines that mothers-

nature. And even more so, very few people know about such an ancient and effective way of recovery as hirudotherapy (treatment with leeches).




The word "hirudotherapy" comes from the Latin girudoor - "leech" and therapy - "treatment". In some sources, treatment with leeches is called

«Bdellotherapy».



The medicinal properties of medical leeches were mentioned even in the time of Hippocrates, Avicenna and Galen. In the Egyptian tombs on the walls there are images of the use of leeches in medicinal

purposes. But the discoverer of hirudotherapy should be considered the Greek physician Nikandra (200-130 BC).



In the XVIII century in Russia secular beauties before the ball put leeches behind their ears, which gave their face a radiant look, and the body gained strength and energy. Hirudotherapy (treatment

leeches) was successfully used by Russian well-known physicians for the recovery of sick patients.



Of the existing 400 species of leeches for therapy, only one species is used - Hirudo medicinalis, and three of its subspecies: pharmacy, medical and eastern

leeches
. Leeches lekaris are ringworms about 10-12 cm long. They have five pairs of eyes and three jaws with 270 teeth, on the edges of which there are ducts of the salivary glands.

It is the saliva of the medicinal leech that contains hirudin, which prevents blood clotting, as well as a mass of active biological substances.



Hirudotherapy is used in almost all types of diseases as an independent, and an additional method of treatment. Beneficial effect on the body as a whole, medical

leech improves blood circulation, has a bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-stress, analgesic and immunostimulating effect on a person.



Treatment with leeches is very effective:

Hirudotherapy (treatment with leeches)

hirudotherapy). "Worm" bites the patient's skin 1,5-2 mm, introduces its saliva, rich in healing properties, and begins to drink blood. By the way, the leech is able to drink

One leech is not used twice. After "lunch" the leech falls asleep for half a year, it is economically disadvantageous to contain it, therefore it is disposed of. This approach
