Apitherapy: treatment with beesApitherapy in translation means "Treatment with bees" (lat. apis - a bee, gr. therapeia - treatment, rehabilitation). To this method of treatment, many are wary, believing that apitherapy only includes treatment with bee stings. In fact, this is not the only method of treatment used by apitherapists.

Yes, the use of bee venom for medicinal purposes is really one of the directions of apitherapy, but not the only one. Apitherapy uses other products of beekeeping: honey (where without it?), propolis, flower pollen, royal jelly, wax, perga and other products. They are used in pure form, if possible, and also make tablets, ointments, infusions, etc. on their basis.

Healing properties of honey and other beekeeping products have been known to people for a long time, so that apitherapy can be considered one of thethe most "well-deserved" methods of treatment of diseases. Modern medicine does not deny the effectiveness of apitherapy. Apitherapy as a method of treatment was recognized by the Ministry of Health of the USSR, and is now officially authorized for medical use.

Let's take a closer look at the beekeeping products used in apitherapy. Let's start with honey, of course. The spectrum of its application is unusually wide: honey is an excellent immunostimulant and a natural antibiotic (they even treat wounds). Also honey has an anesthetic andsoothing effect. Honey is useful for those who want to lose weight: they can replace sugar, and even have a special honey diet. Massage with honey is used for medicinal purposes (including for fighting cellulite).

But apitherapy does not ignore othersproducts of beekeeping. We have already written about the beneficial properties of propolis ("bee glue"), so let's talk about less common, but not less useful products. One of the most useful products - royal jelly (bees feed them larvae and queens). It has a very complex composition and is considered one of the most sterile products - it is used to treat burns, wounds and skin diseases.

Flower Pollen and Perga (collected and "conserved" bees pollen)are also very useful. But perg has more pronounced antitoxic properties than pollen. It increases the number of red blood cells and the level of hemoglobin in the blood, normalizes the number of leukocytes. Perga is absorbed by the body more easily than pollen, and contains more vitamins A, E and B and carbohydrates (fructose, glucose). But in the pollen more vitamin C, lipids, protein and minerals.

Well, you can not ignore and beeswaxing - something that many of us associate withapitherapy. How can we not remember a well-known statement, which states that in small doses, poison can be a medicine? Bee venom has a complex chemical composition, and some biological active substances contained in it have a positive effect on the body. It is believed that bee venom can increase the level of hemoglobin in the blood and reduce the amount of cholesterol, reduce the viscosity of the blood and dilate the blood vessels, thus increasing the flow of blood to the diseased organ, reduce inflammation.

Bee venom is used to treat rheumatism, neuralgia, radiculitis, myositis, joint diseases, thrombophlebitis and other diseases. But Apitherapy with bee venom is contraindicated with diseases of the blood, kidney and liver, cardiovascular, infectious and mental diseases, diabetes.

However, apitherapy is not suitable for everyone. Honey and other bee products are the strongest allergens, so that no useful properties arecompensate for the allergic reaction. Especially careful to be treated with bee venom: it is worth remembering that this is still a poison. Different people react differently to the introduction of poison: someone has only a slight reddening and itching, and some develop a very violent allergic reaction - right up to anaphylactic shock. So do not risk yourself without special need.

Apitherapy is not a panacea for all diseases, and when treating beekeeping products (especially bee venom), you must be extremely careful. But if you do not have allergies, apitherapy can be quite effective.
