Student motivation

In the courtyard of the summer and, it would seem, you can forget aboutschool and together with the child to enjoy the holidays. However, the new academic year is not far off and it is now time to think about how to do so to cause the child's interest in learning?

Student motivation can be different, depending on his ageor even mood. Most often, parents do not explain their child's requirements for conscientious fulfillment of homework - it is necessary and that's it. But the child can sincerely not understand, but why does it really need it.

How can I instill in my child the desire to learn? Unfortunately, there is no universal methodology, because each child has its own characteristics, which must be taken into account. In addition, the educational features are influenced by the age characteristics of the student.

Of course, the first class and the pupil of 8-9 class belong to study in different ways. The baby-first grader still does not understand at all whatit is necessary to study well for admission to the university and further employment - he simply does not know how to think with such huge periods. At the same time, the prospect of admission to the university for the desired specialty is an excellent incentive for the high school student motivation.

Each person has certain needs. These may be basic needs, such asneed for housing, food, the need for physical and psychological security. In addition, there are needs of a higher order - this is the need for recognition, respect, self-realization. Knowing what kind of needs are peculiar to a student of one age or another, you can form the basic principles of educational motivation for him.

At the younger school age in the foreground basic needs, therefore the receipt of material compensationfor good academic performance is an effective educational motivation for a junior high school student. For example, you can reward a child with a toy or sweets for good grades during the week. A child of this age is important that the reward can be felt, felt.

As already mentioned, the need for securityrefers to the basic, and therefore even the youngest children are able to be guided by the desire for security as a motive for learning. To some extent, the child acts on the basis of fear - one must learn, or else they will be punished. Punishment in this case should not be "Papin's belt", but a bad mark, deprivation of pleasure (walk, watching TV, etc.).

From the age of 3-4 years the child begins to form and higher-level needs, for example, the need for love and acceptance by others. Such needs are already well developed in the younger school age, because the child actively interacts with peers, teachers.

At this stage it is important for the child that hisabilities were accepted and approved by others, so the motivation of the junior schoolboy should be added and social motives. For example, you can encourage a child to learn by phrases such as: "Try to do everything right, and the teacher will notice and appreciate your efforts" or "Classmates will respect you even more if you learn this poem."

When the school motivation of the student reaches such a step of its development, the material interest gradually disappears. But the need for an even higher level is beginning to form - need for self-esteem and self-realization. Such needs arise in high school or in high school.

Now the child is ready to learn also becausewants to respect himself, develop, realize his potential. The child "grows" in his own eyes, if he copes with a difficult task, answers correctly in the lesson. Later, the child begins to enjoy not only the achievement of the result, but also the process itself. He likes to think through various options for solving the problem posed, he likes climbing every time to a new stage of development.

Thus, at different ages the student's motivation may be different. The task of parents is to correctly feel the needs of the child at a given period and be guided by them to motivate the child to study. Always use only the highest ofthe schoolchild's needs. However, do not forget that until the simplest needs of the child are satisfied, he will not be able to shift to higher-level needs. Therefore, it is impossible to "jump" immediately through several stages of development - everything should go its own way.
