The recipe for making jelly from oranges



To make jelly from oranges, we need the following ingredients:





  • 500 ml freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 1 orange for serving

  • 2 tbsp. l. powdered sugar

  • 3 fresh laurel leaves or 1 dried laurel leaf

  • 1.5 tsp. agar-agar (vegetable gelatin substitute) or a packet of powdered gelatin (10-11 g)

  • sunflower oil for mold lubrication

  • form for the filling of jelly (you can use a form for baking small cupcakes, metallic or silicone)




How to make orange jelly - step by step instructions

  • In order to make jelly from oranges,first you need to mildly crumble the fresh laurel leaves (or crumble the dried laurel leaf) in order to activate their smell and taste. Place the laurel leaves, freshly squeezed orange juice and sugar in the pan. Periodically stir the contents of the saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves.

  • Next we need gelatin, which wecook until orange juice is cooked in a saucepan. If you decide to use powdered gelatin from the sachet, follow the instructions on the package to prepare it. Add the gelatin to the orange juice only after it is removed from the plate and mix well.

  • If you chose a recipe for jelly from oranges, inwhich uses agar-agar, soak it in cold water and drain it after 5 minutes. After this, add to the pan to the remaining ingredients and boil for another 5 minutes (remember that gelatin can not be added to the boiling liquid).

  • Strain through the sieve the contents of the pan, forin order to remove the bay leaves and possible lumps. Using a small amount of sunflower oil, wipe the jelly molds, pour the warm jelly into the molds, allow it to cool and place it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to completely solidify (if you make orange jelly using agar agar, , than when using gelatin).

  • When the jelly is ready for serving (ideally, ifthis will be the same day you made it), remove it from the mold and place it gently in the middle of the plate, pour freshly squeezed orange juice and decorate with one or two wedges of peeled and orange bones. If suddenly your dessert remains untouched, put it in the refrigerator for the night.





If you do not like bay leaves, you can replaceits rosemary, it is no less organically combined with orange juice. Since this recipe uses a small amount of sugar, it can be recommended for children. Enjoy your meal!
